Polaris Engineer

Role & responsibilities :

We are seeking a highly skilled Polaris Engineer to design, implement, and optimize Polaris by Starburst for data cataloging, federated querying, and metadata management. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Trino (PrestoSQL), multi-cloud data architectures, and enterprise data governance. The role requires a deep understanding of big data technologies, distributed querying, and analytics optimization, enabling seamless data access across hybrid and cloud environments

Preferred candidate profile :

5+ years of experience in data engineering, cloud data platforms, or distributed querying.

Hands-on experience with Starburst Polaris, Trino/Presto, or similar federated query engines.

Expertise in SQL query optimization, data modeling, and cloud data architecture.

Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data cataloging.

Experience working with AWS (S3, Glue), Azure (ADLS), GCP (BigQuery, GCS), and on-prem databases.

Proficiency in ETL/ELT pipelines, Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, and Parquet formats.

Experience integrating BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or Superset with federated query engines.

Knowledge of IAM, RBAC, row-level security, and fine-grained access control.

Familiarity with data lineage tools like Apache Atlas, Collibra, or AWS Glue Data Catalog.
