Critical Skills & Personal Attributes

• Knowledge of ASME Section IX, Section V, Section VIII Div. 1,2, EN standards, ISO 3834. Knowledge of ASME Section III will be added advantage.
• Exposure to Aerospace/ Defense/ Nuclear products & specifications
• Should have lead a team of welding engineers
• Interaction with customers/ Third party surveyors for approval of documents
• Hands on experience for SMAW/ SAW/ FCAW/ SASC/ ESSC/GTAW welding & related issues.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of metallurgy and material properties related to welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and exotic materials.
• Welding Automation, managing team of skiled welders in varous process and knowledge of Heat Treatment is essential.

Main responsibility

• Guides team of engineers for welder qualification, WPS preparation, PQR, troubleshooting of weld repair issues
• Represents WIL in various forums for the field of welding
• Develops new procedure / techniques to:

a)Improve quality b) Increase productivity c) meet project / product specifications

• Interacts with customer / TPI for WPS/ PQR/ Consumable qualifications / welder qualifications
• Preparation of different Heat Treatment Procedure (SR/Hardening/Aging/Tempering etc.)
• Selection and estimation of welding consumable as per requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure welding processes meet quality, efficiency, and safety standards.
• Conduct metallurgical analysis and evaluation to optimize welding processes and material selection.
• Interface with customers to understand welding requirements, obtain necessary approvals, and address technical inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards and regulatory requirements (e.g. ASME, AWS, Customer Specifications and NACE).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional certification (e.g., Certified Welding Engineer (IWE), AWS Certified Welding Inspector).
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, particularly in welding engineering roles.
