Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Data Migration Head to drive the successful migration of data across various platforms. The Migration Lead will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of data migration, including signing off on migration activities, tracking progress, and making critical decisions related to data mapping, corrections, and quality. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of both the technical and domain aspects of the data migration process, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality data for User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

Key Responsibilities :

- Migration Sign-Off : Take ownership of the entire data migration process, ensuring that all migration activities are aligned with project goals and timelines. Responsible for the final sign-off on migration activities.

- Data Mapping and Domain Understanding : Collaborate with business and technical teams to understand domain-specific data requirements. Ensure accurate data mapping and alignment with business needs.

- Track and Monitor Migration Progress : Continuously track the progress of data migration, identifying any potential risks or issues. Provide regular updates to stakeholders on migration status.

- Data Decision Making : Take proactive decisions on data-related issues, including data corrections, mapping inconsistencies, and any other challenges that may arise during the migration process.

- Data Implications and Analysis : Assess the impact of data changes, migrations, and corrections on the business processes. Evaluate the implications of data quality issues, ensuring that they do not affect downstream systems or business operations.

- Corrective Actions : Identify root causes of data issues and take corrective actions to resolve them quickly and effectively. Ensure that any data discrepancies are promptly addressed.

- UAT Data Readiness : Ensure that the data is cleaned, validated, and ready for User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Collaborate with UAT teams to ensure smooth testing and resolution of issues.

- Stakeholder Communication : Communicate regularly with key stakeholders (including business users, technical teams, and senior management) regarding the status of migration activities, issues, and resolutions.

- Documentation and Reporting : Maintain detailed records of migration activities, decisions, data corrections, and resolutions. Prepare regular status reports and post-migration reviews.

Required Skills & Experience :

- Experience : Minimum of 15 years of experience in data migration, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing complex migration projects.

- Domain Expertise : Strong understanding of the relevant business domain and how data flows within it. Experience working closely with domain experts to ensure correct mapping and integration.

- Data Migration Tools : Familiarity with data migration tools and techniques. Knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and tools is a plus.

- Decision-Making Ability : Strong analytical skills with the ability to make quick, informed decisions about data corrections, mapping, and corrective actions.

- Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Problem Solving : Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to identify issues quickly and implement corrective measures effectively.

- Data Quality & Governance : Familiarity with data quality principles, data governance frameworks, and best practices in data management.

Preferred Skills :

- Certifications : Relevant certifications in data management, project management (e.g., PMP, Agile), or domain-specific certifications are a plus.

- Technical Knowledge : Familiarity with SQL, data modeling, and cloud-based data solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure) is an advantage.

- Project Management : Experience managing projects using Agile or Waterfall methodologies.
