Job Description Chief Engineer



Responsible for preventive maintenance, carrying out modifications and efficient running of the Engineering Department.

Role Summary:

• Responsible to maintain preventive maintenance on all equipments of the property.
• Responsible to fix any breakdowns of equipment and fixtures immediately.

Responsibilities:

• Manage all workmen, technicians in the department.
• Ensure the most efficient use of heat, light & power. Conserve energy wherever possible.
• Constantly check & maintain a checklist pertaining to all equipment installed in the Hotel.
• Make and maintain a preventive maintenance chart for the Hotel.
• Prepare capital & repairs and maintenance budgets & present the same for approval.
• Carry out all periodic requirements.
• Prepare and develop methods for greater productivity and economical operations of equipment by ensuring their optimum upkeep & maintenance.
• Use innovative skills to reduce the operational cost in all areas in the Hotel.
• Attend the General Managers meetings and conduct departmental meetings.
• Co-ordinate with the Manager - HR on staff performance and appraisals.
• Liaise closely with housekeeping & Front Office for job orders and guest requests.
• Co-ordinate with security / fire officer on the fire drills and activities relating to fire prevention.
• Co-ordinate with Training Manager for departmental training.
• Report any health or safety hazards to the General Manager.
• To ensure that all duties are carried out in line with the Hotel Policy with high standards of personal appearance, personal hygiene, correct uniforms and name badges as outlined in the staff handbook.
• To carry out any other duties as and when directed by the superiors.
