Overview :

We are seeking an experienced Ansible Automation Consultant to join our team and assist in automating the migration and upgrade process from RHEL 6 to RHEL 8 or 9. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing a complex environment with numerous applications, servers, and database instances running on VMware ESXi hosts. This is a critical position that requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills to ensure a seamless transition.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and implement automation scripts using Ansible to facilitate the RHEL upgrade and migration processes.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and understand dependencies related to applications and databases.

- Analyze the existing infrastructure and identify areas for automation to streamline migration tasks.

- Conduct thorough testing of automation scripts to ensure reliability and accuracy in the upgrade process.

- Provide technical guidance and support to team members throughout the migration lifecycle.

- Develop and maintain documentation related to automation processes, best practices, and operational procedures.

- Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration throughout the project.

- Participate in leadership conversations, providing insights and strategies to enhance the automation initiative.

Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- 5-8 years of automation experience, with a strong focus on Ansible.

- Proven experience working in environments that involve VMware ESXi hosts.

- Solid understanding of RHEL operating systems, particularly versions 6, 8, and 9.

- Strong logical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex systems and dependencies.

- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with a track record of effective communication and collaboration.

- Technical savvy with an infrastructure background, able to engage in strategic technical discussions.

- Experience in leading teams or projects, with a focus on delivering successful outcomes in a timely manner.

- Previous experience in similar migration and upgrade activities is highly desirable.
