Position Overview
Viraj Profiles Pvt Ltd is seeking an experienced and strategic leader for the position of Head of Submerged Arc Furnace (SAF) Operations. This role requires a highly skilled professional to oversee the efficient operation of the SAF process, ensuring high-quality production, optimization of processes, and adherence to safety and environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in SAF operations, leadership capabilities, and a strong commitment to operational excellence in a high-demand manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership of SAF Operations:
• Oversee the entire SAF production process, including the management of daily operations, staff, and equipment.
• Lead the SAF team in ensuring maximum production efficiency, quality, and safety while minimizing costs and waste.
• Monitor operational performance and implement corrective actions to address any issues or inefficiencies.
• Process Optimization:
• Continuously assess and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the SAF process.
• Drive initiatives for process improvement and innovation, including the adoption of advanced technologies and lean manufacturing principles.
• Optimize resource utilization, reduce energy consumption, and improve productivity.
• Quality Control & Compliance:
• Ensure the SAF process complies with all applicable safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• Supervise quality control measures and ensure the final product meets both internal and external standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM).
• Implement corrective and preventive actions for any quality deviations.
• Team Development & Management:
• Lead, train, and mentor the SAF operations team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
• Set clear performance goals, monitor team performance, and provide constructive feedback.
• Manage workforce scheduling, training, and career development initiatives.
• Safety and Environmental Management:
• Uphold and promote a culture of safety within the SAF operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
• Ensure that environmental impact is minimized and all operations meet the highest environmental standards.
• Budget and Resource Management:
• Oversee the budget for the SAF department, ensuring effective cost management and efficient resource allocation.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining high standards of quality and production.
• Collaboration Across Departments:
• Collaborate with other departments such as Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering to ensure smooth and seamless operations.
• Work closely with the procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials.
• Reporting and Analysis:
• Prepare regular performance reports for senior management, detailing key operational metrics, challenges, and improvement initiatives.
• Conduct data analysis to identify areas for optimization, troubleshooting, and enhancement.

Qualifications & Experience

• Educational Requirements:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Additional qualifications or certifications in industrial operations, lean manufacturing, or safety are a plus.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in industrial operations, with at least 5 years of experience specifically in Submerged Arc Furnace (SAF) operations or related areas of high-temperature metal production.
• Proven experience in leading and managing SAF operations, with a focus on process optimization, quality control, and team management.
• Strong knowledge of SAF processes, equipment, and safety protocols.
• Skills:
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and other operational management tools.
• In-depth understanding of manufacturing operations, safety standards, and quality regulations.
