Head of Web Engineering (10-12 yrs)

Job Summary :

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Web Engineering to lead and manage our web development team.

The ideal candidate will be a technical leader with a proven track record of building and scaling high-performance, user-friendly web applications.

This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of web technologies, architecture, and best practices.

You will be responsible for defining the technical vision for our web platform, driving innovation, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality products.

Responsibilities :

Team Leadership & Management :

- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of web engineers, fostering a high-performance culture.

- This includes setting clear performance expectations, providing regular feedback and coaching, conducting performance reviews, and identifying training and development needs.

Technical Vision & Strategy :

- Define and implement the technical vision and strategy for our web platform, aligning with business objectives and industry best practices.

Architecture & Design :

- Oversee the architecture and design of web applications, ensuring scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.

Technology Stack & Roadmap :

- Evaluate and select appropriate technologies for our web platform, developing and maintaining a technology roadmap that aligns with future needs.

Development Process & Best Practices :

- Establish and enforce web development best practices, including coding standards, testing methodologies, and deployment processes.

Project Management & Delivery :

- Manage web development projects, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery of high-quality products.

- Utilize agile methodologies where appropriate.

Code Quality & Review :

- Promote code quality through code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.

Performance Monitoring & Optimization :

- Monitor the performance of web applications and implement optimizations to improve speed, scalability, and user experience.

Security :

- Ensure the security of web applications by implementing appropriate security measures and adhering to security best practices.

Collaboration & Communication :

- Collaborate effectively with other departments, such as product management, design, and marketing, to understand requirements and deliver successful web solutions.

- Communicate regularly with the web engineering team and senior management, providing updates on progress and challenges.

Budget Management :

- Manage the web engineering budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.

Vendor Management (if applicable) :

- Manage relationships with external vendors for web development services or tools.

Research & Innovation :

- Stay up-to-date with the latest web technologies and trends, and promote innovation within the team.

Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

- Minimum of 10 years of experience in web development, with at least 10 years in a leadership role.

- Proven track record of building and scaling high-performance web applications.

- Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.

- Deep understanding of web technologies, including front-end (e.g, JavaScript, React, Angular, Vue.js), back-end (e.g, Node.js, Python, Java), and database technologies.

- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g, AWS, Azure, GCP) and DevOps practices.

- Expertise in web application architecture, design patterns, and security best practices.

- Strong project management skills and experience with agile methodologies.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
