Senior Manager- Design and Engineering

A Senior Manager - Solar Design plays a critical role in leading the design, engineering, and execution of solar energy projects. This position requires advanced technical expertise, project leadership, and strategic decision-making to optimize solar system designs for commercial and industrial applications. The ideal candidate will oversee design teams, ensure compliance with industry standards, and drive innovation in solar energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Design Management:

• Oversee and manage end-to-end solar system design, from feasibility analysis to implementation.
• Conduct advanced site surveys and shadow analysis for optimal solar design.
• Lead the preparation and review of module layouts, single-line diagrams (SLD), cable routing, and trench layouts.
• Ensure optimal system configurations, including AC/DC cable sizing, earthing calculations, and string layouts.
• Supervise the creation of 3D models, structure fabrication drawings, and control room designs using AutoCAD and relevant design software.

Project & Team Management:

• Manage a team of design engineers, providing technical guidance and mentoring.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, procurement, and installation teams, to ensure seamless project execution.
• Evaluate project requirements and allocate resources efficiently to meet deadlines and quality standards.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

• Establish and enforce design standards, best practices, and quality control measures.
• Ensure compliance with national and international solar energy regulations and drafting standards.
• Implement standardization of drawing nomenclature, layers, and symbols to maintain consistency and accuracy.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Oversee the preparation of Bills of Material (BoM) and identify critical components for procurement.
• Maintain detailed technical documentation and generate reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of design documentation for project approvals and certifications.

Educational Qualifications:

Bachelors/Masters Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.

Certification in AutoCAD, PV Syst, and STADD-PRO is preferred.

Required Experience:

Minimum 8 years of experience in solar commercial and industrial rooftop & ground-mounted projects.

Proven expertise in solar system design, modeling, and execution.

Technical Skills:

Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Google SketchUp, PV Syst, and other design software.

In-depth knowledge of solar energy regulations, codes, and standards.

Strong expertise in solar design calculations, energy yield assessments, and system optimization.
