Product Manager - Venue Software Platform

What you'll do
In Viasats Mobility Segment Product Management Team, we are looking for a technically focused product manager who can shape the direction and drive ongoing success of the Venue Software Platform of our Mobility Connectivity Platform.

In this role, you will lay down the charter to help build a scalable software platform that is hardware agnostic and can support Viasats strategic vision of modular software components that enable connectivity and digital products across networks.

The ideal candidate will have experience developing and leading both product and engineering teams, experience managing products as-built and an affinity for technical challenges, strong collaboration and influence skills, and a strong track record of delivering results.

• Own the overall product lifecycle from ideation to end of life
• Build and manage a product roadmap that lays out your overall strategy, striking a balance between client requests, market demands, technology investments, and your own creative ideas
• Develop and iterate Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) in conjunction with market requirements
• Own the product vision and evangelize it throughout the organization clearly articulate and justify the WHAT and WHY of any product effort
• Take ownership of the case for the product, advocating for funding and resourcing to achieve its value
• Bring the "voice of the customer" to the product by working closely with internal product teams, sales, marketing, customer success, operations, and users to prioritize feasibility, viability, and desirability of requirements.
• Collaborate with various internal or partner solutions to define interfaces where applicable.
• Interact with partners, customers, and prospects to define market requirements, and translate these requirements into market requirements (MRDs) that the engineering team can deliver to, on time, and within budget
• Collaborate with various business segments on new product initiatives and feature releases
• Be data-driven and focus on customer insights to develop product features and own product lifecycle through maturity.
• Act as the main point of contact for product needs, roadmap, prioritization, and communication of product plan across customer and collaborator community
• Engage with the relevant solution partners and ecosystem players both technically and commercially
• Use metrics to drive a deep understanding of our product market fit and its uses: evangelize, educate, and engage customers.
• Facilitate build vs buy analysis for technology selection for the product development activities
• Work closely with the team and key individuals to drive the success and continuous improvement of the final product.
• Present periodically to senior executives at the corporation on the continuous evolution of product portfolio.

• 4+ years managing one or more products or experience like the above essential functions
• 3+ years as a software, systems, hardware, and/or lab engineer within a product development organization
• Demonstrated experience working with global teams, strong collaboration, and communications skills
• Resourceful individual with outstanding problem-solving abilities and a dedicated work ethic
• Highly motivated self-starter with experience working with Scaled Agile Framework development teams
• Demonstrated experience influencing and leading cross functional teams to drive and deliver arguments to introduce and launch product capabilities
• Fast learner and comfortable with technical details. You have credibility with the engineering community about technical tradeoffs, scalability, and performance
• Demonstrated experience understanding of customer focused design thinking process
• Are productive.
• You know how to identify the most important issues, prioritize your time, and deliver results consistently
• Passionate about solving problems for customers and can define compelling products that address those needs
• Experience with executive stakeholder management
• Able to travel up to 5%

• Bachelors degree, CS degree or equivalent experience is preferred (MBA / masters degree a plus)
• Experience in Aviation and/or Maritime industry a plus.
