Safety and Compliance Officer

Role & responsibilities

Job Summary:

Will be responsible for ensuring that all safety and compliance regulations are met within the leather goods manufacturing facility. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs, conducting regular audits, and providing training to employees to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Create and implement safety programs that comply with all statutory regulations and client specific requirements.

Conduct Safety Audits: Perform regular safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential safety risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.

Training and Education: Provide safety training and education to employees, ensuring they are aware of safety procedures and protocols.

Incident Investigation: Investigate workplace accidents and incidents to determine causes and implement corrective actions.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and environmental regulations.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports.

Collaboration: Work closely with management and other departments to promote a culture of safety and compliance.

Preferred candidate profile

Education: Recognised Degree in any branch of Engineering/Technology or Recognised Degree/Diploma in Industrial Safety.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety and compliance role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Experience in handling Social audits like SMETA, BSCI, etc is preferred

Experience in leather goods or garments manufacturing is preferred

Certified Safety Professional or Occupational Health and Safety certification will be an added advantage.

Should have adequate knowledge in Tamil language

Strong knowledge of safety regulations, excellent communication and training skills, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
