Manager - Gearbox Assembly Quality

Role & responsibilities

The Gearbox Assembly Quality Head will remain responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of gearbox assembly processes in a manufacturing environment. This role involves implementing quality control measures, coordinating with production teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Quality Assurance & Control

Develop and implement quality control procedures for gearbox assembly.

Conduct inspections and audits to ensure adherence to quality standards.

Identify defects, analyze root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Ensure compliance with ISO, IATF, and other relevant quality standards.

Process Improvement

Work with production teams to enhance assembly processes and reduce defects.

Implement Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.

Monitor key quality metrics (PPM, First Pass Yield, Rework & Scrap Rates) and drive improvements.

Team Management & Training

Lead and train quality inspectors and engineers in best practices.

Develop quality awareness programs for the production workforce.

Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

Supplier & Customer Interaction

Collaborate with suppliers to ensure incoming material quality.

Address customer complaints and implement corrective actions.

Conduct failure analysis and provide feedback to design & production teams.

Compliance & Documentation

Maintain records of quality reports, audits, and corrective actions.

Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

Support internal and external audits from customers and certification bodies.

Preferred candidate profile

Bachelors/Master’s degree in Mechanical/Automobile/Production Engineering.

12+ years of experience in quality control, preferably in gearbox or axle manufacturing.

Strong knowledge of GD&T, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA.

Expertise in ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and other industry standards.

Experience with tools like CMM, hardness testers, and other precision measuring instruments.

Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
