Summary Thin Film Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the monitoring, sustaining, and hands-on support of day-to-day thin film manufacturing processes using PVD and E-beam techniques, including providing technical support to ensure process reliability; verifying process robustness with characterization of process latitudes through experimentation; improving the efficiency of deposition; developing and implementing practices or methodologies which reduce cost and improve operational efficiency; conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective action; and improving production yields via process/tool manufacturability optimization. * This is a manufacturing position not a research position.
Job Description
Essential Functions
Monitors, sustains, and hands on support of day-to-day thin film manufacturing processes, programs, and activities for Cesium Iodide:Thallium Iodide scintillator deposition using various PVD tools and Aluminum deposition using EBPVD
Troubleshooting of vacuum and deposition equipment
Statistical characterization of data populations
Understanding controllers, data monitoring and programming them
Ensures process reliability by providing technical support to operators, technicians, and other engineers
Runs qualification of processes for manufacturing
Improves the efficiency of deposition processes analyzing data, conducting experiments, and researching alternative methods which reduce scrap
Designs and conducts advanced experiments to verify process robustness with characterization of process latitudes
Develops and implements practices or methodologies which lower cost, reduce cycle time, and improve operational efficiency
Conducts root cause analysis and implements corrective action if required
Responds to inquiries from other team members, managers, or departments
Uses Statistical Process Control (SPC) to analyze product quality data; develops charts or reports and presents findings before groups or teams
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, OR Chemistry, Materials Science, or Physics
8+ years of hands on experience working in thin film fabrication optical or semiconductor industry in manufacturing or process engineering role (preferred: Cesium Iodide:Thallium Iodide scintillator experience, Optical Thin Film coatings)
Strong experience using PVD/EBPVD and other thin film deposition techniques or processes.
Analytical skills in SEM characterization and defect/failure analysis.
Experience in deposition tool specification and development.
Experience with production software such as SAP/MES. Documentation experience with writing work instructions, verification/validation reports and standard operating procedures.
Hands on experience in SPC and Design of Experiments (DOE).
Hands on experience with automated vacuum control systems from vendors such as Evatec, Balzers, Leybold, DynaVac, SCS and Vacuum Process Technologies
Experience working in cleanrooms with willingness to wear PAPR equipment as needed.
Required Skills and Knowledge
Proficiency in creating, reviewing, and editing of relevant technical documents.
Proficient in employing the latest industry techniques and practices.
Familiar with the latest available tools or standards used in the industry to complete task(s).
Experience Level with Business Tools
Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired
