Job description:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Safety Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all personnel, contractors, and visitors during the design, construction, and operation phases of Railway Tunnel Doubling BG project. As a Safety Engineer, you will oversee the implementation of safety programs, conduct risk assessments, monitor safety practices on-site, and ensure compliance with local, state, and national safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Program Development and Implementation:

• Develop, implement, and enforce safety protocols and policies for industrial, commercial, and residential building projects.
• Ensure safety programs are in compliance with local and national safety regulations, standards, and laws.
• Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to assess site hazards and ensure safety measures are being followed.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

• Perform detailed risk assessments for ongoing and upcoming construction projects, identifying potential hazards and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
• Advise project teams on safe work practices and recommend engineering controls or personal protective equipment (PPE) where needed.
• Conduct safety training sessions for staff, contractors, and other site personnel to ensure awareness of safety standards and procedures.

Site Supervision and Monitoring:

• Monitor construction sites to ensure compliance with safety regulations and project safety plans.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and suggest corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure that safety equipment is provided, maintained, and used appropriately on-site.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain comprehensive records of safety inspections, accident reports, and safety audits.
• Prepare safety reports and provide updates to project managers and senior management on safety performance.
• Ensure that all safety-related incidents are documented and reported to regulatory authorities in a timely manner.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to integrate safety into all phases of design, construction, and occupancy.
• Promote a culture of safety and encourage employees to report hazards or unsafe conditions.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for any safety-related concerns or issues during the project lifecycle.

Compliance and Continuous Improvement:

• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, Railway codes, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
• Stay updated on the latest safety regulations, technology, and best practices in the construction and building industry.
• Continuously review and improve safety processes to reduce the likelihood of accidents and improve overall safety culture.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree/Diploma in Safety Engineering, or Equivalent.
• 10 years of experience in safety engineering, specifically in the railway Projects or heavy industrial/Infra Projects.
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, Railway codes, and safety standards.
• Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA 30, etc.) is preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction site safety hazards and mitigation techniques.
• Ability to conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to educate and train personnel on safety procedures.
• Proficient in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
