About the Job:
Borneo is a fast-growing startup developing a cutting-edge data security and compliance automation platform, and were looking for a passionate Senior Test Engineer to join our team. You will play a key role in identifying issues that may be tricky to catch due to data complexity, ensuring that the platform scales and performs as expected. The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation, is eager to grow, and thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where innovation and collaboration are key.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and execute in-depth testing strategies for both the control / data plane components of the platform, focusing on data ingestion and classification workflows.
• Tackle data-dependent issues by developing thorough test plans that uncover edge cases, data inconsistencies, and system bottlenecks.
• Perform end-to-end testing on the platforms microservices, ensuring that control and data plane services interact seamlessly.
• Collaborate on scale testing to ensure platform performance under increasing workloads, validating the systems ability to handle massive data ingestion and high throughput.
• Work closely with DevOps to optimize cost-efficiency of deployments across multiple clouds, ensuring services are optimized for cost without compromising performance or security.
• Identify, document, and track issues related to large-scale data handling and classification, using tools like JIRA to ensure all issues are addressed before release.
• Test API integrations between the control plane and data plane, validating the accuracy of data processing and compliance workflows.
• Ensure security features and compliance standards are rigorously tested across the platform, particularly in the data plane, where sensitive data ingestion and classification occur.
• Continuously improve the testing process, identifying areas for automation or enhanced testing methodologies to address the platforms evolving data and security needs.
• Provide clear documentation and insights into test results, highlighting critical issues, and collaborating with teams to prioritize fixes.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3 to 8 years of experience in testing with a focus on data-driven testing for large-scale systems.
• Proven experience in testing platforms including data ingestion, classification, and security workflows.
• Strong understanding of DevOps practices and experience with testing in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure), particularly in a multi-cloud setup.
• Expertise in uncovering data-dependent issues in testing, including testing edge cases, data integrity, and performance bottlenecks in large data processing pipelines.
• Proficiency with test management tools (e.g., JIRA) to track defects, manage test cases, and report results.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills, with experience solving complex issues related to data integrity, scalability, and system performance.
• Ability to write detailed test cases and documentation, ensuring full test coverage for platform services and deployment processes.

Preferred Experience:
Experience in Startups: Prior experience working in a startup or early-stage company, where agility and problem-solving are key.
Experience working with cloud-native technologies like Kubernetes, Terraform.
Hands-on experience with security testing, particularly for platforms that handle sensitive data ingestion and classification.
Experience working with multi-tenant systems, ensuring quality across different tenants with isolated data planes.
