Role Overview Description
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Whatfix, you will contribute significantly to the backend development of our products, focusing on delivering scalable, efficient, and high-quality solutions. This role requires strong technical skills, a hands-on approach, and a collaborative mindset to solve complex problems and drive impactful results. You will play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, and maintainability of backend systems while working with a talented team of engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Scope & Impact: Lead or significantly contribute to medium-to-large feature releases across engineering teams, demonstrating expertise in one or more technical areas.
  • Technical Execution: Participate in design reviews to provide and receive constructive feedback, navigating complex situations involving scale, uncertainty, and interconnectedness.
  • Ownership: Estimate and manage project timelines and risks effectively to ensure timely delivery.
  • Collaboration: Build relationships with stakeholders, including customers and product managers, while contributing to strategic direction, planning roadmaps, and fostering knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Team Building: Mentor multiple engineers to enhance team skills and expertise, actively contributing to engineering recruitment across the company.


Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience of 8 to 14 years in software engineering, with a track record of leading and contributing to successful projects.
  • Expertise in backend development, architecture, and implementing scalable solutions across various tech stacks including, Java,JavaScript and its related
  • Strong understanding and application of software design principles and best practices.
  • Proven ability in conducting thorough code reviews, refining code structure, and ensuring high code quality.
  • Active involvement in mentoring engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment, and driving technical excellence.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with experience in strategic planning and project management.
  • A proactive and ownership-driven approach, focusing on continuous improvement and innovation in delivering customer-centric solutions.


Must have:

  • Strong Experience in Core Java, REST, Spring.
  • Experience in Unit Testing and Automation.
  • Experience in CI/CD, Jenkins, Docker, K8S.
  • Experience with relational or NoSQL databases.
  • Analyze Functional & Non-Functional requirements with effort estimation and deployment strategies.
  • Hands-on in Architecting and developing large-scale applications.
  • Hands-on debugging skills.
  • Design for performance, scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability"
