Job Description

Job Title: Finance and Accounting Manager

Work Location: Mysore/Bangalore/WFH


Job Synopsis: The Finance and Accounting Manager will play a key role in managing the Accounting function for the company. This is a crucial position and the incumbent will be expected to work very closely with key stakeholders. This will include the Finance Controller, the Executive team, the India management team and the finance organization. External stakeholders will include statutory auditors, tax and other regulatory authorities, bankers and vendors.

Unilog is looking for a candidate that can, not only think strategically but also dig into the details and is not afraid of rolling up their sleeves to do the work. The accounting group is located in India and is responsible for financial reporting of the Indian company, and supporting the operations in the US. Manage a team of accounting staff located in Bangalore and Mysore. The Finance and Accounting Manager is expected to provide inspiring leadership to this team by establishing clear policies and processes to ensure adequate control and provide accounting guidance


The successful candidate will be responsible for book keeping, month close activities, statutory and tax audit, tax compliances, banking relationships, any other compliances. The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years of total experience of which the last five should be in a senior role, preferably in a SaaS company.


The main roles & responsibilities:

  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Well versed in Statutory audit, tax audit, transfer pricing study, ROC filing and other compliances, ensure compliances without overrun costs
  • Liaise with auditors and regulatory bodies as necessary.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Establish and manage processes relating to payroll and vendor to ensure that we are paying for value received and that adequate controls are in place
  • Review existing month end, quarter end and annual close process and make appropriate changes. Communicate the process clearly to all key stakeholders.
  • Manage and mentor a team of accountants, overseeing their day-to-day activities and professional development.
  • Review and document all important processes including revenue recognition, expense and capitalization
  • Clearly document and communicate revenue recognition policies and processes to all stakeholders in the organization. Establish procedures to highlight variations at the earliest in order to seek a quick resolution to any issues
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations. Pass experience on process improvements is desirable.
  • Maintain relationships with banking institutions.
  • Establish and implement adequate internal control processes. Ensure all statutory requirements under the Companies Act are properly implemented and documented
  • Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the companys procedures
  • Familiarity with foreign currency accounting is desirable
  • Provide oversight of outsourced accounting and tax functions
  • Provide leadership and support to accounts receivable and accounts payable departments
  • Manage the preparation of payroll

Qualification, Experience & Skill Set Required:

  • Chartered Accountant
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • Minimum 8 years of accounting experience showing progressive development.
  • Excellent understanding of financial regulations and accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, including NETSUITE and Microsoft Excel
  • The role may require occasional overtime and periods of intense workload during financial reporting periods and audits
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Impeccable analytical and organizational skills
  • Advanced software skills to include MS Office and ERP experience
  • High attention to detail is required
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Ability to work closely with a senior management team
  • Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced, innovative and growing company
