Design Manager

Role & responsibilities

Ensuring that the design work is of sufficient quality and that all directives are being followed.

• Collaborating with our own team and with other departments and stakeholders to achieve design goals.
• Work closely with the Design Consultants and BIM Team in all co-ordination activities pertaining to the project.
• Establish and maintain procedures for information flow, approvals, meetings, reporting, and applications for payment with design professionals, consultants, owner, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate with the Commercial Manager, PMCS Manager and Contracts Manager with meetings related to development and management of Consultants scopes of services, contracts and variations, budgets and design schedules.
• Conduct basic and preliminary construction document review and examine all documents for constructability and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) before final review.
• Review Method Statements, Shop drawing submittals and closure of RFIS & submitted As Built Drawing
• Participate in preparation of various studies, recommendations for materials and methods, and cost estimates.
• Take lead in Mock up, look and feel approvals.
• Schedule, conduct, and document all job, owner-architect, and coordination meetings.
• Ensure appropriate Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes are established and maintained for project.
• Prepare relevant portions of monthly report related to all design processes.
• Manage design and submittal processes during pre- and post-construction stages.
• Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

Preferred candidate profile

• Understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedule, able analyse contract variations and Extension of time and cost claims.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills, able to influence and negotiate.
• Project management skills
• Familiar with Design management with similar type of project
• Supervisory experience
• Knowledge of various construction methods and materials, characteristics, installation procedures, and tolerance.
• Knowledge of Pro log and Primavera scheduling desirable
• Advanced computer skills and MS Office skills required.
• Must have English language proficiency with professional oral and written communication skills.
