RPG ILE Developer (4-6 yrs)

Job Summary :

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated RPG ILE Developer to join our team.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting, maintaining, and enhancing our existing RPG ILE applications within a production environment.

This position requires a strong understanding of IBM i (AS/400) systems, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a meticulous approach to code documentation.

Key Responsibilities :

Production Support :

- Provide timely and effective support for production issues related to RPG ILE applications.

- Analyze, troubleshoot, and diagnose production problems, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.

- Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential issues.

Application Maintenance :

- Maintain and enhance existing RPG ILE codebase, ensuring its stability, performance, and adherence to best practices.

- Conduct code reviews and perform necessary code refactoring.

- Implement bug fixes and enhancements based on business requirements.

Documentation :

- Document existing RPG ILE code thoroughly, including detailed comments, flowcharts, and technical specifications.

- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for applications and systems.

Continuous Improvement :

- Stay updated on the latest technologies, best practices, and industry trends related to RPG ILE development.

- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the development lifecycle.

Key Requirements :

- Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience as an RPG ILE Developer.

- Proficiency in RPG ILE programming and a deep understanding of IBM i (AS/400) systems.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Strong documentation skills with the ability to create clear, concise, and well-organized technical documentation.

- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Availability to work full-time during UK business hours.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Prior experience in production support for RPG ILE applications.

- Knowledge of SQL, CL, and other related tools on IBM i systems.

- Experience with Agile development methodologies (e., Scrum, Kanban).

- Familiarity with DevOps practices (e., version control, continuous integration/continuous delivery)
