Job Summary: Trimble Inc. seeks a highly motivated and experienced Senior Environmental Compliance Engineer to join our growing team. In this critical role, you will be pivotal in ensuring our products comply with global environmental regulations and customer requirements.
Lead Trimbles Full Material Disclosure (FMD) program and champion environmentally preferred materials.
Drive compliance with regulations like RoHS, REACH, and Proposition 65 for parts, products, and packaging.
Interpret and apply environmental laws, manage data, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Oversee environmental training and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Environmental Expertise:
Ensure compliance with global environmental regulations and customer requirements for Trimble products.
Interpret and apply environmental laws and regulations, collaborating with the legal team.
Demonstrate a deep understanding of regulations, including RoHS, REACH, Proposition 65, PFAS, P0Ps, WEEE, SCIP Database, Conflict Minerals, China RoHS, Battery regulations, and Packaging directives
Ensure that Trimble Restricted Substance specification in use in PG&C Agile.
Continuously Update Specification with substances as regulations change.
Worked with the compliance team to implement the Country Of Origin Process and EU WEEE Reporting
Lead the India compliance team & achieve the FMD data collection target
Data Management and Reporting:
Manage environmental compliance data from manufacturing partners.
Collect the Full Material Disclosure (FMD) from suppliers, verify and validate the substances, and ensure the part meets all regulatory requirements.
Resolve data upload and maintenance issues in material databases.
Create reports analyzing BOM compliance and non-compliance.
Coordinate methodology, as appropriate, with related stakeholders Supply Chain for risk assessment & mitigation processes. Identify and prioritize significant risks to the business and address data and risk indicators.
Make Supply Chain efforts less reactive and more proactive
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with internal teams (design, engineering, manufacturing) to ensure product compliance.
Work with the Compliance team and suppliers to address compliance challenges.
Leadership and Mentorship:
Manage Trimbles industry-leading FMD program, overseeing data collection and reporting.
Develop and deliver environmental training across business units and suppliers.
Identify and implement solutions to minimize the environmental impact of product design and manufacturing.
Technical Skills and Automation:
Develop and monitor project schedules, gather requirements, and manage project risks.
Run complex queries on ERP systems (Oracle, Agile) to extract compliance data.
Experience with automation tools to improve data management and reporting efficiency (preferred).
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience in environmental compliance within a high-tech electronics/mechanical environment.
Strong working knowledge of environmental regulations for consumer electronics, packaging, and batteries.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with PLM systems, BOMs, and AMLs.
Proven ability to analyze large datasets, generate reports, and draw actionable conclusions.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Experience engaging cross-functional teams and global suppliers on compliance initiatives.
Office-based position with occasional travel
