Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

• Experience in power generation, distribution, and telecommunication systems, preferably handling shipborne equipment.
• Strong understanding of electrical system schematics and interfaces with other systems.
• Expertise in:
• Selection of cables, protective devices (e.g., MCB, MCCB, fuses, relays), motors, starters, transformers, and batteries.
• Load calculations.
• Preparation of SLDs (Single Line Diagrams), cable schedules, and main cable routes.
• Telecommunication and serial communication protocols (e.g., NMEA 0183, RS485, RS232).
• EMI/EMC principles and short-circuit calculations.
• Knowledge of relevant standards and rules, including SOLAS, classification society rules, and naval regulations.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Electrical Design and Documentation:
• Prepare detailed electrical drawings and calculations for various shipborne electrical systems and equipment.
• Maintain and manage documentation for entire ship electrical systems and ensure proper distribution to relevant stakeholders.
2. Technical Coordination and Compliance:
• Collaborate with the production team, classification societies, owner's representatives, and OEMs to ensure project requirements are met.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable standards and rules.
3. Communication and Interface Management:
• Understand and implement telecommunication and serial communication protocols for shipborne systems.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
4. System Analysis and Selection:
• Conduct load calculations and select appropriate electrical components such as cables, motors, and protective devices.
• Design and review SLDs, cable schedules, and routing to meet operational requirements.
