The Asia Group is now accepting applications for a Research Consultant to join our practice in New Delhi. This position will support the Managing Director and the broader South Asia and Southeast practices on a short-term project. The Research Consultant role is offered as a part-time position for a period of nine months, which may be extended subject to the completion of the project and performance of the consultant.

The position requires a detail-oriented Research Consultant to support with research on a digital public infrastructure (DPI) initiative in Asia. This initiative aims to enhance the delivery of government benefits to residents by leveraging technology to streamline processes, improve accessibility, and ensure more efficient distribution of public services. The candidate will be responsible for conducting in-depth research on welfare schemes, digital public infrastructure models, and relevant policy frameworks in emerging economies. The insights gathered will help shape our strategy and influence decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of public sector operations, digital transformation, and emerging market dynamics.
Responsibilities Include:
Conduct comprehensive research on existing DPI systems and government welfare schemes globally, with a particular focus on emerging economies in Southeast Asia and South Asia
Analyze national and international policies related to social welfare programs and digital infrastructure, identifying best practices and potential areas for improvement
Gather, analyze, and interpret qualitative and quantitative data from various sources to support project development
Develop detailed research reports, white papers, and policy briefs that provide actionable insights to guide project planning and implementation
Conduct interviews and liaise with key stakeholders, including government officials, policy experts, and industry leaders, to gather insights on welfare schemes and infrastructure
Monitor trends in digital public infrastructure, social protection, and government benefit schemes to identify opportunities and potential risks
Work closely with project managers, technical teams, and policy experts to ensure research aligns with the overall objectives of the project
Required Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Public Policy, Economics, Social Sciences, Information Technology, or a related field. A master s degree is preferred
3+ years of experience in research or policy analysis, preferably with a focus on digital infrastructure, public policy, or social welfare programs
Strong understanding of government welfare schemes and digital public infrastructure, particularly in emerging markets
Experience in conducting both primary and secondary research, including interviews, literature reviews, and data analysis
Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise reports for non-technical stakeholders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Candidate should be willing and able to travel as needed to meet project goals and support collaboration with stakeholders across different locations
