Collections - Assistant Manager

Job Summary: The Assistant Manager - Collections will be responsible for assisting in managing the collections process for overdue accounts, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines, and supporting the development of strategies to improve recovery rates. The role includes overseeing daily operations, guiding collections teams, handling escalated cases, and reporting on collections performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the collections team, ensuring that targets are met and processes are followed.
• Monitor the progress of collections activities, ensuring timely follow-ups on delinquent accounts.
• Provide support in developing collections strategies, including setting up action plans for early-stage, mid-stage, and late-stage collections.
• Supervise and mentor collections agents, ensuring they meet performance standards and KPIs.
• Handle escalated cases and complex customer situations, offering solutions to resolve outstanding debts.
• Review and analyze collections reports, identifying trends andareas for process improvement.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, compliance guidelines, and internal policies in all collections activities.
• Assist in training new team members and conducting refresher training sessions for the team.
• Collaborate with internal teams (Risk, Legal, Compliance) to address any potential issues and improve collections procedures.
• Generate reports for senior management on collections performance, outstanding balances, and recovery progress.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in collections, preferably in a financial institution (banking or NBFC).
• Strong understanding of debt recovery processes, collections strategies, and legal compliance.
• Ability to manage and motivate a team, with excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Analytical skills with experience in managing and interpreting collections data and reports.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and collections management software.

Customer-oriented approach, with the ability to handle difficult conversations effectively.
