Role & responsibilities

Role Objective:

To manage and drive presales activities in the area of Process and Plant Engineering within the Discrete

Manufacturing division. The role requires owning the presales lifecycle for engineering opportunities,

collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and delivering customized solutions that align with client

requirements. The focus is on enabling growth by creating compelling proposals, managing customer

engagement, and leveraging technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

Presales and Bid Management:

- Lead the End-to-End Bid Process: Understand client requirements and respond to RFPs/RFIs/RFQs; Coordinate

with delivery, solution architects, sales teams, and leadership to create winning proposals. Create executive

summaries, solution outlines, commercials, and business value articulation.

- Solutioning and Strategy: Design engineering solutions for process engineering (e.g., fluid dynamics, thermal

processes, chemical processes) and plant engineering (e.g., factory layouts, mechanical systems, and utilities).

Assess client pain points and propose digital transformation frameworks leveraging IIoT, PLM, and Automation

tools.

- Market Research and Benchmarking: Perform competitive analysis and market research to benchmark

offerings against competitors. Propose innovative strategies and value additions to position Tech Mahindra as a

preferred partner.

Client Engagement:

- Act as the primary interface during presales discussions, client workshops, and solution presentations & build

relationships with decision-makers and influencers to understand long-term goals and identify future

opportunities.

Collaboration and Coordination:

- Liaise with delivery teams, engineering consultants, and COEs (Centers of Excellence) to validate the feasibility

of proposed solutions.

- Work with global and regional sales teams to align proposals with client expectations and industry best

practices.

Innovation and Thought Leadership:

- Showcase expertise in emerging areas such as Digital Twin, Sustainability Engineering, and Predictive

Maintenance for plants.

- Drive initiatives around Generative AI and Data-driven Engineering for Process and Plant Optimization.

Commercials and Contracts:

- Collaborate with finance and legal teams to define pricing, SLAs, and contractual terms for presales

engagements.

Knowledge Management:

- Maintain a repository of solutions, case studies, and best practices to improve the efficiency of future

proposals.

- Train and mentor junior team members on presales methodologies and industry-specific knowledge.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

- Win Rate: Percentage of successful bids/proposals converted to contracts.

- Revenue Growth: Contribution to annual growth targets, e.g., $510 million incremental revenue.

- Proposal Quality: Client feedback on solution articulation and presentation.

- Timeliness: Adherence to proposal submission timelines.

- Customer Engagement: Number of client workshops, proof of concept (POC) demonstrations, and stakeholder

meetings.

Preferred candidate profile

Qualifications:

Education: B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or related engineering fields (mandatory). MBA

(preferably in Marketing, Strategy, or Operations Management) from a reputed institution.

Experience:

• 8 to 12 years of experience in Engineering Services, with at least 35 years in presales or solution design.
• Experience in Process and Plant Engineering domains, including exposure to discrete manufacturing industries

(e.g., automotive, heavy engineering, aerospace, or chemicals).

• Proven track record of winning multimillion-dollar engineering deals.

Skills:

• Strong technical acumen in plant design, process modeling, and manufacturing engineering solutions.
• Proficiency in digital tools like CAD/CAM software, PLM platforms (e.g., PTC Windchill, Siemens Teamcenter),

IIoT frameworks, and Industry 4.0 solutions.

• Exceptional communication, presentation, and client-facing skills.
• Analytical mindset with expertise in cost modeling and business case development.
• Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
