Job Summary:
The Procurement Buyer plays a critical role in managing the procurement lifecycle, from sourcing and negotiating with suppliers to finalizing contracts and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services. The role involves strategic decision-making, data analysis, and effective communication to optimize procurement activities while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Negotiation and Strategic Sourcing:
Use strategic sourcing techniques to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms from suppliers.
Evaluate and negotiate contracts to align with organizational goals and budget constraints.
Data Analysis and Market Insights:
Analyze procurement data and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Proactively assess potential risks in the supply chain and devise mitigation strategies.
Supplier Relationship Management:
Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and vendors.
Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and ensure alignment with organizational standards.
Procurement Reporting:
Prepare detailed procurement reports and dashboards for management review.
Collaborate with internal teams to communicate procurement outcomes and support decision-making.
Contract Management:
Review, test, and monitor existing supply contracts for compliance and risk management.
Ensure contracts are up to date and aligned with the organizations needs.
Sourcing and Partnerships:
Develop and implement sourcing strategies to identify profitable and reliable suppliers.
Initiate and foster long-term partnerships with key vendors.
Purchase Orders and Approvals:
Approve the procurement of goods and services in accordance with organizational policies.
Oversee the accuracy and completeness of purchase orders and delivery schedules.
Order and Delivery Management:
Finalize purchase details, including pricing, delivery timelines, and payment terms.
Ensure timely follow-up on order status and resolve any delivery-related issues.
Supply Chain Coordination:
Coordinate supply chain activities to ensure seamless operations across departments.
Collaborate with logistics teams to optimize shipping and delivery processes.
Inventory Management:
Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels to prevent overstocking or shortages.
Implement inventory control procedures and minimize waste.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience: 9 years minimum of relevant experience in procurement or supply chain management.
Certifications: Preferred certifications include CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply), CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), or equivalent.
Key Skills:
Proficiency in negotiation and vendor management.
Strong analytical skills for data interpretation and market trend analysis.
Advanced knowledge of procurement systems and ERP tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
Familiarity with contract management and risk assessment processes.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
