Overview

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) Mathematics Teacher plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality mathematics education to students pursuing the IB Diploma. This position encompasses the responsibility to inspire and guide students through complex mathematical concepts while fostering a love for learning and problem-solving skills. As an IB DP Mathematics Teacher, you will develop and implement engaging lesson plans while maintaining a stimulating classroom environment that promotes intellectual curiosity and academic rigor. The role is not just about teaching mathematics; it also involves mentoring students in developing their analytical thinking and self-management skills, which are essential in their academic and future careers. The teacher s contributions will significantly influence students readiness for higher education. Collaborative efforts with other faculty members in the development and implementation of interdisciplinary projects will be expected, reinforcing the schools commitment to a holistic education.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver curriculum-aligned mathematics lessons for the IB Diploma Programme.
Develop and assess student understanding using various teaching methodologies.
Implement inquiry-based learning techniques to involve students actively.
Utilize technology and digital resources to enhance the learning experience.
Encourage critical thinking and problem-solving in mathematical contexts.
Assess and evaluate student performance through formal and informal assessments.
Provide timely feedback to students to guide their progress.
Support student inquiry and research in mathematics-related projects.
Collaborate with colleagues to create interdisciplinary teaching opportunities.
Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and challenges.

Required Qualifications

Masters degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
Teaching certification or credential in secondary mathematics.
Experience teaching advanced mathematics courses, preferably in an IB setting.
In-depth knowledge of the IB curriculum framework and assessment methods.
Strong understanding of inquiry-based and student-centered teaching practices.
Proficiency in using educational technology and online learning platforms.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
Strong commitment to professional development and lifelong learning.
Experience working with diverse student populations and learning needs.
Demonstrated ability to foster a positive classroom environment.
Effective classroom management skills.
Passion for mathematics and teaching.
Ability to communicate effectively in English; additional languages are an asset.
Experience in curriculum development and assessment design.
