Job Title: Stone Assortment Specialist

Department: Jewelry Manufacturing
Reports To: Production Manager / Quality Control Head

Job Summary:

The Stone Assortment Specialist is responsible for evaluating, categorizing, and selecting gemstones based on quality, size, color, and other specifications for use in jewelry manufacturing. This role requires keen attention to detail, knowledge of gemstones, and the ability to collaborate with design and production teams to ensure the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Stone Selection:

  • Examine gemstones for defects, inclusions, and color consistency.
  • Sort stones by size, shape, color, clarity, and carat weight to meet design specifications.

• Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all stones meet company quality standards and client requirements.
  • Conduct periodic checks to ensure consistent quality throughout production.

• Inventory Management:

  • Maintain detailed records of stone inventory, including counts and specifications.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams for replenishment of gemstones as needed.

• Collaboration with Teams:

  • Work closely with designers to match stones with jewelry designs.
  • Provide input on stone availability and constraints for new designs.

• Process Optimization:

  • Identify and suggest improvements in stone sorting and quality inspection processes.
  • Stay updated on trends in gemstone sourcing and manufacturing techniques.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a diploma or certification in gemology is preferred.

• Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in gemstone assortment, jewelry manufacturing, or a related field.

• Skills:

  • Proficiency in gemstone grading and identification.
  • Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Basic computer skills for inventory management software.
