Purpose of the position :
The candidate would play a key role in IT leadership team of the organization and would have the opportunity to contribute in every facet of IT management.
Since the role is in the IT Department of a user organization, it offers an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to build/enhance knowledge & skills across domain as well as technical areas like application software lifecycle, IT infrastructure, information/cyber security, BCP/DR as well as other important functions such as governance, risk and compliance for the IT Department.
- The core responsibilities of the candidate would be in Application Software Development/ Maintenance, Operational and Production Support for a portfolio of applications, which in turn entails the supervision of in-house teams as well vendor teams.
- The portfolio of applications would include critical Trading and Settlement Systems, as well as other applications within the application landscape.
- The candidate would be required to engage with business units and manage the deliveries in the most optimum manner from quality, time & cost perspective.
- Thus sound technical capabilities in application development lifecycle coupled with domain knowledge in the areas of Trading / Risk Management / Settlement Systems would be highly desirable.
- Given that the position is part of IT leadership team, it is expected that the candidate will shoulder wider responsibilities, for which the candidate needs to possess knowledge & experience in areas such IT governance, IT infrastructure, Information/Cyber security, BCP/DR process etc
Scope :
- To be part of the IT leadership team and contribute in multiple areas of IT, with core competency being in the area application software development and support of Trading Platforms.
- To engage with all stake holders across the organization for effective service/ project delivery.
- To contribute to Enterprise Architecture to help shape the future of Trading Platforms
- To take overall ownership for uptime, capacity planning, business continuity, performance, security, and ensure adherence to SLAs (by in-house teams or by vendors)
- To participate in and contribute to good IT Governance, Risk and Compliance practices as is appropriate for a critical Market Infrastructure firm
- To ensure that all application development projects are executed under a sound Project Management Framework to meet the requirements of the firm
- To develop people and teams' skills and capabilities in order to ensure growth and sustenance of the firm's information assets in the future
Responsibilities :
- Delivery Management of Business Change Requests on existing applications as well as new project / platform roll outs from time to time.
- Projects may also include technology obsolescence protection initiatives, performance improvements or initiatives to improve the security posture of the application.
- Ensuring smooth running of applications within the ecosystem of the organization and its members / partners with the highest possible uptime.
- Ensure smooth working systems that interface with external systems.
- Develop /improve operational process to achieve operational excellence.
- Manage BCP/DR/Information security related activities for the applications in scope.
- Scan relevant developments / technologies and initiate/participate in pilot/exploratory projects to help the firm provide "next generation" services backed by technology.
- Report to the Technical Approval Committee (TAC) appointed by the Board of for appropriate matters under his/her charge.
- Ensure compliance with all internal policies, procedures and guidelines pertaining to IT, contribute to periodic review and improvement of the same, and ensure support to all internal and system audits and timely closure of all audit observations.
- Nurture and build a leadership pipeline for the firm through careful assessment of performance and potential of the officials under his charge, and helping develop their capabilities.
Job Experience :
- Around 20 years of relevant experience in leading the development and management of mission critical BFSI applications.
- Domain centric application development experience with Exchanges / Capital Markets Firms / Bank Treasuries or Front Office applications.
- Experience in design and development of internet facing applications and web technologies
- Experience in projects involving fresh implementation, large migrations, technology revamp Vendor management, contract management
- Interaction with senior executives/ Directors of the Board in a formal environment
Knowledge and Skills :
- Development/Implementation/Maintenance of mission critical BFSI systems
- Project management of large projects using standard methodologies/tools including the use of estimation techniques.
- Exposure to both Waterfall and Agile development methodologies.
- Sound understanding of Secure SDLC practices and methodologies of software testing (both functional and non-functional)
- Experience in Application Management / Production Support with responsibility for uptime and / or response and resolution of issues within prescribed timelines / SLAs or putting in place processes and organization structure for effective Production Support
- Exposure to Performance Engineering / Measurement in high throughput / low latency systems
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and Presentation skills
- Domain knowledge of Trading/Clearing/Risk Management is an added advantage
- Experience in leading teams as well as leading managers of teams
Technology Knowledge/Exposure :
- Mission critical BFSI applications architecture with complex inter-process communication
- Unix / Linux operating systems
- .Net / Java / C programming languages
- MS SQL / Oracle / PostgreSQL Databases
- Message queue technologies (IBM MQ / Kafka / Others)
