About the role

As Application engineer, youll be part of a highly motivated tech team that is responsible for building high-quality public cloud applications, by applying agile architecture principles.

Your responsibilities include:

• You work closely with the Product Manager, UX designer and architects to understand the problems, formulate solution proposals and evaluate the implementation effort.
• Together with the squad you use design thinking techniques to empathize with our customers on their journey and find innovative solutions to solve their problems.
• You implement secure, compliant and cloud native solutions, building apps that amaze customers by its simplicity.
• You focus on developing API-centric apps, know the digital ecosystem and integrate your solution with ease with external services.
• Under the lead and guidance of a technical architect you evaluate various upcoming technologies, prototype and eventually help draw conclusions on their applicability to our landscape.
• Develop components that enable quality, re-usability, scalability, availability and maintainability in accordance with the overall business strategy and IT standards.
• Follow design guidelines for application development.
• Perform peer code reviews.
• Present and communicate ideas and design to various stakeholder for review and brainstorming.
• You embrace the DevSecOps culture, automate everything and enable continuous delivery of secure and high-quality software, delivering valuable features at a very fast pace!

The Customer Engagement Tribe in Corporate solutions aims to re-think customer facing technology offerings and apply disruptive perspectives. You will be working closely with our internal customers to ensure well architected cloud services are delivered that meet fast changing demands.

About you

• You have a minimum of 7 years of experience in agile software engineering
• Youre a full stack developer with a deep understanding of modern, cloud native architectures and software patterns and experienced on MS Azures cloud offering
• Very strong in Java and Spring (Spring Boot 2 is plus)
• Cloud PaaS services experience - preferably Azure
• Experience with infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Cloud Formation and Terraform
• Experience with configuration management solutions such as Ansible, Salt
• Good knowledge of container technologies, e.g. Docker
• Knowledge of database concepts, technologies and tools including cloud database services
• Familiarity with DevOps culture, methodologies and tools
• Strong in Restful service development
• Strong understanding of reusable object-oriented software design patterns.
• You have strong analytical skills, and take on problems in a structured way, joining your own creative ideas and those of others. You can do this on an abstract level and engage in detail to make sure ideas are realistic and pragmatic.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating a clear and articulate standard of written and verbal communication in complex environments
• Ability to manage own workload and self-directed
• Exposure to latest design methodology such as DDD (Domain Driven Design) and hands on working experience with distributed computing system using event sourcing, asynchronous messaging as communication channel is a big plus.
• An understanding of PC primary insurance is a plus
