About the Team:

You will join the Group Digital and Technology team that enables the Organisation to deliver strategic objectives today while enabling the future.

We are a team of Architects and Engineers who are passionate about technology and innovation and are interested in leveraging Big Data to solve complex business problems and gain new insights into our business.

About the Role:

As an Engineering Apprentice, you will join a team of Architects & Engineers to work on a global strategic initiative to make better use of our Reinsurance data and enhance our ability to make data driven decisions.

You will help the team design, develop and execute complex analytic solutions that will transform the insurance industry. You will gain exposure to a project that is leveraging cutting edge technology that applies Big Data and Machine Learning to solve new and emerging problems for Swiss Re Reinsurance business.

As part of this team you will have the opportunity to interact & collaborate with team members in Asia, Australia, Europe & the Americas.

About You:

Graduate in B.S. or Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering
Strong background in the fundamentals of Computer Science
Proficient in Python and SQL. Familiarity with PySpark and Spark SQL a plus
Knowledge of large data sets and distributed computing (Spark/Hive/Hadoop) a plus
Experience of web application development and programming skills in Java/J2ee /JavaScript/HTML/CSS a plus
Proficient in a cloud environment such as AWS or Azure a plus
Approaches problems with curiosity and open-mindedness, is a fast learner
Ability and enthusiasm to work in a global and multicultural environment
Strong analytical skills and can focus on details without losing track of the big picture
Excellent oral and written English skills
