Category Manager

Role & responsibilities

• Responsible for growing selection, improving terms and cost structures, building long-term relationships with vendors for the subcategories/brands assigned.
• Develop alternate sources of supply to get best competitive terms.
• Deep understanding of market, vendors, brands, and channel wise pricing structures.
• Negotiate pricing and commercial terms to ensure cost-effective product sourcing.
• Regular engagement with suppliers / brands including in-person monthly meetings.
• Analysis of competing offerings available to the customers (across multiple offline and online channels)
• Interact closely with the warehouse and store managers on various aspects of pricing and stock levels etc.
• Account reconciliation, payables, and receivables management

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
• Minimum 5 to 6 years experience working as a category manager in FMCG / CPG at leading national / regional retailers, ecommerce or Q commerce companies.
• Commercial understanding of terms, margins etc.
• Good ability to use MS Office.
• Proven people management skills
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholder management.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
