Position: Sr. Manager/DGM- Communication and External Relations
Employment Type: Full Time - Regular Employment
Key Responsibilities:
1. Communications Strategy and Planning:
a. Develop, implement, and evaluate the annual communications plan across various media and audiences in collaboration with senior leadership.
b. Manage the annual content calendar to ensure consistent and quality communication efforts.
c. Define communication strategies for donor engagement.
d. Be up to date with emerging trends in the communications and marketing domains and implement relevant strategies timely.
e. Effectively integrate tech and AI into communication outputs and amplifying outreach.
f. Drive innovation in communication.
g. Supervise the drafting communication of key communication products including media talking points, messages, press releases, position-statements, audio-visuals, and photographic and printed materials, and facilitate distribution and dissemination to the public and key stakeholders.
2. Media Relations
a. Build and maintain relationships with Indian and international media houses and create an internal media list.
b. Curate a database of stringers oriented to covering Rupantar's initiatives on a pro bono basis.
c. Develop, track, and report tangible measurement standards of media engagement, in line with the goals and objectives of the organization.
d. Advise the senior management team on preparation for media interactions and press queries.
e. Track media cycles and manage reactive media requests and opportunities.
f. Scout for opportunities where Rupantar's work can be published, showcased.
3. Brand Management
a. Define, create, and strengthen brand identity through positioning and key messaging to ensure brand identification, recall, and identification.
b. Plan, execute, track, and analyze communication campaigns to drive awareness, engagement, and brand/program recall.
c. Lead the brand messaging for key moments and campaigns.
4. Stakeholder and Donor Engagement
a. Support the resource mobilization efforts through curating customised message houses for differing sets of stakeholders
b. Identify and maintain communication channels for key stakeholders. Identify opportunities to increase Rupantar's representation in international conferences and events.
c. Identify stories within the organization and help teams shape them into compelling narratives for external communication.
d. Support advocacy efforts across teams to identify earned and paid media strategies and support them.
e. Develop a customised website page for donors/ partners to visit and a payment gateway integrated into the website for individual donations.
5. Crisis Management
a. Develop and manage tough questions and reactive responses as part of crisis management.
b. Advise and lead strategic responses during crises.
6. Team Management
a. Set performance metrics with tangible goals and objectives, and track the performance of the team and content.
b. Manage a team of designers, content writers, and social media managers.
c. Facilitate recruitment of team members.
Required Skill Set:
- Extensive experience in curating and implementing communication and marketing plans, particularly within civil society organizations or UN-affiliated bodies.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, and media representatives.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful multi-channel campaigns, encompassing traditional and digital media.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills, with experience in guiding and developing communication teams.
- Experience in collaborating with internal teams to ensure alignment of communication strategies with organizational goals.
- Experience in mainline media, public relations, and executive media, with a deep understanding of media dynamics and trends.
- Expertise in building and maintaining a strong brand identity, positioning, and key messaging to enhance brand recognition and recall.
- Skill in crafting compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences and support the organization's mission and goals.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
- A minimum of 12 years of extensive experience in communication, with a demonstrated track record of success in managing multi-channel campaigns.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant software required for the role, ensuring efficient and effective communication strategies.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with proficiency in Google Analytics or similar platforms, enabling the ability to make data-driven decisions and optimize communication efforts.
