Research Group Head: Machine Learning and Predictive Analytics

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and implement a long-term research vision and strategy aligned with the department overall business objectives.

Research Management

• Lead all aspects of the planning, execution, and monitoring of multiple research projects and prioritize optimally to improve research output and impact.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with academic institutions, and Business unit partners to facilitate collaboration and knowledge transfer.
• Encourage risk-taking by creating a culture where experimentation and failure are seen as opportunities for learning and growth.
• Organize events that encourage rapid prototyping and idea generation.
• Assess and mitigate the risks associated with AI deployment, including model bias, security vulnerabilities, and productization concerns.

Technical Expertise

• Possess deep technical expertise in relevant scientific or engineering fields.
• Proficiency in deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and architectures (CNNs, RNNs, Transformers).
• Proficiency in Generative AI tooling, building RAG pipelines, and familiarity with genetic frameworks
• Familiarity with AI development tools, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), and MLOps pipelines.
• Stay informed about AI regulations and industry standards.

Team Management

• Recruit, hire, and develop a high-performing team of researchers and engineers.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to team members to enhance their skills and career growth.
• Create a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages knowledge sharing and collaboration.
• Plan and implement the investments/budget as the cost centre owner.
• Implement governance for the Research Group.
• Collaborate with other Research Groups to enhance driven edge at the region / TF level.

Intellectual Property

• Protect the companys intellectual property through invention disclosures and patents.
• Encourage a culture of intellectual property creation and commercialization.
• External Engagement
• Represent the company at industry conferences, workshops, and other external events.
• Build and maintain a strong professional network to enhance the companys reputation.

• Advanced degree or equivalent experience (Master s, Ph.D. or equivalent) in a relevant scientific or engineering field.
• Consistent track record of leading successful teams and delivering impactful results.
• Deep understanding of the research landscape and emerging technologies.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Experience in working across international boundaries.
