Role Overview :
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior System Administrator to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing Level 3 technical support, managing and maintaining servers, and ensuring the stability and performance of the IT infrastructure.
You will work with high-end servers, storage, and operating systems while troubleshooting complex technical issues and ensuring the secure operation of systems.
You should have deep knowledge of server management, Linux-based systems, and storage solutions.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide Level 3 support for all system-related issues, including troubleshooting hardware and software failures, performance bottlenecks, and configuration issues.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical errors, offering detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and solutions to resolve recurring issues.
- Work proactively to identify and resolve performance issues, ensuring system uptime and reliability.
- Manage and configure high-end servers from vendors such as Dell, HP, IBM, and SUN.
- Handle server firmware upgrades and apply patches and updates as required by system requirements or user needs.
- Install and configure Red Hat Linux (RHEL) systems, including kernel updates and client patching to meet client-specific configurations.
- Manage server hardening processes to enhance security.
- Perform P2V migrations (Physical to Virtual) and lead hardware migrations (e., from old hardware to new hardware) ensuring smooth transitions with minimal downtime.
- Configure and manage storage LUNs, adding and removing disks, and creating new file systems.
- Utilize expertise in Linux Logical Volume Manager (LVM), Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM), and Solaris SVM to manage volumes, including root disk encapsulation and mirror disk management.
- Perform disk configurations, and handle storage-related issues to ensure system availability and optimal performance.
- Implement NIC bonding using kernel modules to ensure network redundancy and performance.
- Manage and configure DNS servers, including installation, configuration, and record management (internal and external DNS).
- Support the installation and configuration of NFS and AutoFS for file sharing and management.
- Lead efforts in server hardening and ensure systems are secure against vulnerabilities, performing regular Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT), and remediating findings.
- Ensure compliance with ITIL processes, including Incident Management, Change Management, and Problem Management, following best practices for system administration.
- Maintain and enhance security protocols and configurations as part of patch management and server hardening.
- Strong Linux/Unix administration skills, especially in Red Hat Linux (RHEL), Solaris, and Linux-based systems.
- Extensive experience with server management (Dell, HP, IBM, SUN servers) and handling high-performance server setups.
- Solid experience with storage management, including knowledge of LVM, VxVM, and SVM.
- In-depth experience with P2V migration and hardware migration projects.
- Experience with firmware updates, disk configurations, and creating file systems on Linux and Unix-based servers.
- Strong understanding of DNS configuration and management, including internal DNS record management and NFS/AutoFS configuration.
- Proficient in ITIL processes for incident, change, and problem management
