Senior Software Engineer - AS400

Job Role and Expectations:

• Technical Problem-Solving
  Dive deep into AS/400 challenges, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to engineering tasks to keep our systems smooth and efficient. Your hands-on expertise in RPG, CL, and DB2 will be your secret weapon.

  Lead by example with clean, maintainable, and scalable code. Actively participate in peer reviews, ensure adherence to best practices, and drive quality standards across the AS/400 platform.
• Solution Architecting
  Take charge of designing modules, components, and overall solutions on the AS/400 system. Balance performance, scalability, and simplicity to deliver effective and elegant systems.

  Be the bridge between business needs and technical execution. Translate business requirements into technical specifications and provide clear, concise feedback to stakeholders about technical challenges and progress.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive design documents for AS/400 modules, programs, and components.
• Create and manage reusable components in RPG, CL, and COBOL.
• Conduct and participate in estimation activities to provide accurate projections.
• Collaborate to troubleshoot and resolve client-reported issues within defined SLAs.
• Perform peer reviews to ensure high-quality code across the AS/400 development team.
• Actively engage in client demos and effectively showcase solutions.
• Share expertise through training sessions, documentation, and technical articles.
• Demonstrate a strong track record of delivering projects using Scrum, Agile, and iterative development methodologies.
• Establish and optimize processes and tools to enhance productivity in AS/400 development, including version control, automation, and deployment processes.

Desired Skillset

• Strong expertise in RPG, RPGLE, CLLE, and DB2/400.
• Hands-on experience in designing and developing AS/400-based applications and interfaces.
• Knowledge of job scheduling tools like Control-M or equivalent.
• Familiarity with modern integrations, such as web services, APIs, and XML on AS/400, is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with an eye for optimization and performance tuning.
• Experience in Agile, Scrum, and iterative development methodologies.
