Job Description :
Responsibilities :
- Perform day-to-day database administration tasks, including user management, security administration, schema management, performance monitoring, and backup/recovery.
- Install, configure, and maintain MySQL and PostgreSQL database servers.
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies to optimize database performance and query efficiency.
- Diagnose and resolve database issues, including performance problems, connectivity issues, data corruption, and replication issues.
- Implement and manage database backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data availability and recoverability in case of failures.
- Configure and manage database replication (master-slave, multi-master) for high availability and disaster recovery.
- Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data.
- Implement and maintain database monitoring tools and scripts to proactively identify and address potential issues.
- Automate routine database administration tasks using scripting languages (Bash, Python).
- Manage database schemas, including creating and modifying tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures.
- Analyze and optimize SQL queries to improve performance.
- Create and maintain database documentation, including configuration details, backup/recovery procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of database systems.
- Participate in capacity planning to ensure database infrastructure can support future growth.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience as a Database Administrator with a focus on MySQL and/or PostgreSQL.
- Strong understanding of relational database concepts and principles.
- Hands-on experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL database administration.
- Proficiency in SQL and database query optimization.
- Experience with database backup and recovery tools and techniques.
- Experience with database replication technologies.
- Knowledge of database security best practices.
- Experience with database monitoring tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
