Database Administrator - MySQL/SQL Server (3-6 yrs)

About the job :

We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to oversee the management, optimization, and security of our database systems, including SQL Server and MySQL.

The role involves designing high-availability solutions, ensuring compliance, and implementing cost-effective database strategies.

The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise and a proactive approach to troubleshooting and innovation.

Key Responsibilities :

Database Performance and Optimization :

- Perform query tuning and optimization for SQL Server and MySQL systems to enhance performance.

- Utilize tools and techniques to monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues effectively.

Compliance and Security :

- Participate in PCI audits for SQL Server and MySQL systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

- Implement robust database security measures, including user access controls and encryption.

High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) :

- Design and maintain high-availability and disaster recovery solutions to ensure database reliability and continuity.

- Conduct regular tests to validate recovery strategies.

Database Migrations and Maintenance :

- Execute seamless database migrations, including :

1. Azure to on-premises.

2. On-premises to RDS.

3. RDS to RDS transitions.

- Manage SQL Agent jobs for automated tasks like index maintenance and integrity checks.

Cloud and On-Premises Support :

- Provide support for Azure SQL environments and on-premises database systems.

- Optimize cloud-based database costs and licensing strategies.

Troubleshooting and Innovation :

- Troubleshoot database-related issues to maintain system stability and performance.

- Conduct research and development on new technologies and database solutions to meet evolving business requirements.

Key Competencies :

- SQL Server(2019-Latest) on Linux, RDS and Azure SQL

- Experience in SQL Server AlwaysOn on Linux Cluster

- Experience in Log Shipping and Replication

- Working knowledge on Ubuntu/Linux Commands including sqlcmd, mssql-conf, mssql-tools, bash, crontab.

- Proficient in Patching Process on Linux Databases MySQL Server standalone setup.

- Azure SQL Failover Cluster, Geo Replication and Sync to other databases

- Knowledge on PostgreSQL

- Good to have knowledge on other RDBMS

- Proficiency in database security best practices and capacity planning.

- Knowledge of cost optimization strategies for cloud and on-premises environments.

- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Education and Experience :

- 3-6 years of expertise into DBA (SQL Server, Azure SQL and MySQL Systems)

- Bachelor's Degree in IT or any other related field.

- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator or MySQL Database Administrator.

- Experience with automation tools and scripting (e., T-SQL, PowerShell).
