Job Title : SQL Database Administrator (DBA)
Overview :
The SQL Database Administrator (DBA) is a critical role within our IT department, responsible for overseeing the performance, integrity, and security of our SQL databases. The DBA will ensure that our data is stored, accessed, and processed efficiently while maintaining the highest levels of data security and availability. This position involves close collaboration with developers and IT staff to optimize database systems, implement best practices for data management, and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
As a key player in our organization, the SQL DBA will contribute to the overall success of IT initiatives, providing reliable databases that meet the business needs of our diverse operations. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across various teams to ensure seamless database operations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design, install, and configure SQL databases.
- Monitor database performance and ensure optimal efficiency.
- Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Manage user access and security roles for database systems.
- Conduct regular maintenance and upgrades for database applications.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to database configuration.
- Collaborate with application developers to optimize database queries.
- Troubleshoot database issues and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
- Implement and manage database security protocols.
- Analyze and tune SQL queries for optimal performance.
- Assist in capacity planning for database storage requirements.
- Conduct regular audits on data access and usage.
- Train and support junior database administrators and team members.
- Stay up to date with latest industry trends and technologies in database management.
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in SQL database administration.
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server, including version upgrades and migrations.
- Experience with performance tuning and optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with RDBMS concepts and data storage solutions.
- Hands-on experience with backup and recovery procedures.
- Ability to write complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
- Understanding of data encryption and security best practices.
- Experience with monitoring tools for database performance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
- Experience with data integration tools and ETL processes.
- Proficient in using Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Certifications in SQL Server administration are a plus.
