What you ll do
Drive engineering excellence within Central Business Configuration (CBC) by leading and inspiring a talented team to deliver innovative solutions. Set strategic direction, ensuring seamless alignment with overarching business objectives. Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement while overseeing project execution to achieve exceptional outcomes.
Discovery
Provide technical feasibility assessment and engineering/resource limitations to product vision and timeline.
Flag engineering dependences and any required platform/cross-portfolio engineering support.
Viability
Utilize process like inner sourcing to resolve further dependencies as needed.
Build frontend and backend features and non-functional requirements.
Functional testing for the product against acceptance criteria, build tests for reuse/automation.
Define and conduct QA program and E2E/integration testing.
Deploy release following enterprise standards on release readiness.
Build
Flag non-functional requirements (e. g. , technical debt, debugging, monitoring) for prioritization & specify metrics on the technical/operations side.
Define initial engineering/architecture design; iterate and conduct architectural review to ensure alignment and not building in silos for a forward-looking global/scalable solution.
Define Service Level Objectives & external Service Level Agreements.

Track critical engineering metrics, provide technical thought leadership to help drive innovative and scalable solutions to customer needs.
Understand business priorities and imperatives, and provide input to product strategy on feasibility, scope, and roadmap.
Work planning and execution
Own resourcing, budgeting and technical roadmap planning for the team and enable effective and efficient team performance; balance across competing priorities.
Establish a vision and strategy for the engineering team, own delivery of engineering outcomes and manage the execution plan and key milestones; support tech debt remediation.
Team leadership
Hire high caliber talent, mentor and coach effectively to develop a high performing team, and provide feedback as needed.
Inspire team members to follow through; develop an inclusive environment that fosters innovation, change, and growth; facilitate conflict resolution by building trust within the team.
Engineering excellence
Embody strong engineering fundamentals and fluency in relevant language and frameworks; assist engineers to provide quality solutions; encourage team to follow architectural best practices.
Maintain breadth of knowledge across relevant products, platforms, and architecture.
Support and encourage adoption of DevSecOps and agile principles.

We are a team passionately pursuing the dream of providing ONE Central Business Configuration, the cloud customizing tool for all the Intelligent Enterprise Suite of products at SAP.
A part of the Cross Product Engineering and Experience (CPEX) unit within the Product Engineering board area, CBC provides Configuration applications for the Intelligent Enterprise Solutions. We currently have 2000+ customers and are growing.
S/4HANA public cloud customers are already onboard. We are now enabling other SAP products in the Intelligent Enterprise Suite, such as SAP Business Technology Platform applications, SuccessFactors, Ariba, Concur etc.
