Job Description

The Role

You will be responsible to drive continuous improvement to increase operation, availability and efficiency

Infrastructure landscape re-architecture and new technology adoption is another important part

Global thinking and a strong customer focus are essential within the new Enterprise Cloud Services program

Your role will be of a Technology Senior Consultant as part of the Center of Excellence Teams comprising of Database Experts administering Databases, driving critical topics related to Incident Management, Problem Management, High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Backup Restore among other operational tasks

Role Requirements

Strong conceptual understanding knowledge on the RDBMS products in the market

Around 12+ years of work experience as Database Administrator primarily on IBM DB2 or DB6

Exposure to the automation tools /scripting or processes

DB2 UDB Installation Applying fixpak

Excellent knowledge in DB Performance Tuning

Strong knowledge in implementation and supporting DB2 HADR with pacemaker

Ability to proactively identify, troubleshoot and resolve live database systems issues

Hands-on knowledge in proactive remediation of database operational problems

Database Sizing and Capacity Planning

Database Creation and DBM DB CFG setting

Good understanding of Locking Concept

Security Authentication

Well verse with physical Logical Database partitioning features

Strong Knowledge in Database backup restoration

Strong knowledge of db2pd, snapshot monitors event monitor tool for troubleshooting

Should have in depth knowledge to find the slow response of servers, database etc Strong communication skills and good follow-ups

Strong knowledge for data movement tools

Good knowledge on shell scripting

Willingness to take on-call duty/Weekend tasks during working hours

The on-call / on-shift duty is based on rotation

Key Duties And Responsibilities

Monitoring and managing the database landscape in a large-scale Productive environments

Must have good knowledge of Policy, workflow, group, and clients for Configuring the backup

Ensuring Data Integrity aspects and determining the most suitable recovery technique

Ability to handle effectively and accurately the data recovery scenarios

Clear understanding of Point-In-Time (PIT) and full recovery techniques

Handle incidents around critical systems and ability to failover failback as needed

Cloud knowledge (e g experience of working in Public Cloud Domains like Microsoft Azure, AWS and GCP) is desirable but not essential

Good to have Professional Certification of Database Platforms with exposure to Project Management tasks including PMP and ITIL certification

Well not much, may be the flat structure is a plus. But this means no growth at all in terms of promotion.

Dislikes

Poor management, poor hike and career growth. You feel like stuck in a particular band for ever. Moreover they have started to do cost cutting like any other companies and their salary is no more competitive in the Industry.
