Software Development Engineer I - Data Engineering (2-4 yrs)

About the Role :

At Red.Health, we are revolutionizing emergency response and healthcare logistics through data-driven decision-making. We are looking for a Data Engineer who can build and optimize scalable AWS-based data pipelines to power real-time tracking, dispatch optimization, and analytics for our emergency medical services.

The ideal candidate has strong problem-solving skills, expertise in AWS data pipelines, and experience working with SQL, BigQuery, and real-time data processing. If you are passionate about leveraging data to save lives and improve emergency response efficiency, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities :

- Build and maintain real-time data pipelines for tracking ambulance movements, response times, and emergency incidents.

- Design and implement ETL/ELT workflows for integrating data from multiple sources (IoT, GPS, call centers, hospitals, etc.).

- Ensure data sanity, integrity, and accuracy for critical emergency response operations.

- Work with AWS data stack (Glue, Redshift, Lambda, Kinesis, S3, Athena) to process and analyze high-velocity data streams.

- Develop predictive models and anomaly detection mechanisms to proactively identify issues in dispatch efficiency.

- Optimize SQL queries and BigQuery datasets for real-time reporting and operational dashboards.

- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Operations Teams to deliver data solutions that improve emergency response efficiency.

- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure high availability and reliability of critical data pipelines.

- Ensure compliance with data privacy and security standards, especially for healthcare and emergency response data.

- Support geo-analytics and heatmap analysis to optimize ambulance placements and reduce response times.

Key Skills & Qualifications :

- Strong experience in AWS data pipeline tools (Glue, Redshift, Lambda, Kinesis, Athena, etc.).

- Proficiency in SQL and expertise in query optimization for large-scale datasets.

- Experience working with BigQuery or other cloud-based data warehouses.

- Hands-on experience with real-time streaming data (Kafka, Spark Streaming, Flink, or Kinesis).

- Strong understanding of ETL/ELT frameworks and orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or AWS Step Functions.

- Experience with Python or Scala for data processing.

- Deep understanding of geo-spatial analytics, geofencing, and GPS data processing is a plus.

- Passion for solving real-world problems with data in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have :

- Experience working in healthcare, logistics, or emergency response domains.

- Knowledge of machine learning pipelines for predictive dispatching.

- Familiarity with DataOps and CI/CD for data engineering workflows.
