Storage Administrator

Key Responsibilities:

1. Storage Administration:

• Provide L1/L2 support for Dell EMC and SAN storage solutions.
• Manage, configure, and administer enterprise-level Dell EMC storage systems, including VMAX, PMAX8000, and SAN Switches.
• Perform daily health checks for storage frames, SAN switches, and host WWPN connections.

2. Replication and Backup:

• Configure and maintain local and remote replication setups using SRDF/S and SRDF/A.
• Coordinate for snapshot creation and management.

3. Troubleshooting and Coordination:

• Troubleshoot issues related to storage systems and SAN switches.
• Coordinate with the Dell team for storage allocations, reclamations, hardware failure resolutions, and firmware upgrades.
• Follow up on pending Service Requests (SRs) with Dell support teams.

4. Provisioning and Monitoring:

• Handle storage provisioning using tools like SYMCLI and monitor systems using Unisphere and CloudIQ.
• Monitor capacity utilization, CPU, and memory usage of SAN switches.
• Perform regular health checks and generate daily reports.

5. Decommissioning and Maintenance:

• Reclamation and decommissioning of devices, SRDF groups, and zones.
• Remove host cables and perform zone decommissioning.
• Replace faulty SFPs and ensure timely maintenance.

6. Collaboration and Support:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams and OEMs for storage environment planning and issue resolution.
• Coordinate with the customer and OEM for tasks such as LUN creation, allocations, and reclamations.

Technical Skills:

• Strong understanding of storage infrastructure and SAN environments.

• Expertise in Dell EMC storage products, including VMAX, PMAX, Clarion, and VNX.

• Familiarity with Symmetrix Management Console (SMC).

• Experience with monitoring tools like CloudIQ and SANnav.

• Knowledge of Red Hat Linux administration.

Preferred Certifications: • Certification in the Storage Administration domain is a plus
