Job Description
We are seeking a qualified Fire Protection Engineer to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the fire safety of power plant. You will be responsible for the entire fire protection system design engineering, requisition, and supplier support, from initial concept to final implementation.
Responsibilities:
- Attend kick-off/ERM meetings and finalize Fire Protection Engineering requirements.
- Understanding project requirements, raising technical clarifications to clients, and preparing technical and commercial proposals.
- Conduct technical and project investigations for various fire extinguishing systems (clean agent, inert gas, carbon dioxide, wet chemical, water mist and aerosol).
- Develop detailed specifications for fire protection systems and equipment.
- Deliver requisition on time and with expected Quality level on our projects or NPI.
- Deliver the system design baseline and be responsible for all technical deliverables.
- Prepare fire protection system layouts, drawings and documentation: New Part Release, Arrangement Drawings, CAD, BOM, AO, GBOM, SBOM. Schematics (P&ID) & Electrical Elementary, Instrumentations Device Summary & Interconnect list, Ordering Spec & Supplier Drawings Review, etc.
- Provide technical support for fire protection system projects. Support Field modification instruction (FMI), ER Case, NCR, SDR, RFI, etc.
- Implement codes and regulations for fire safety and suppression systems.
- Design fire protection systems in accordance with national and international fire safety codes and standards (NFPA, ISO, etc.).
- Design and estimate fire suppression systems including:
- Gas suppression systems (foam, water mist)
- Water-based systems (mechanical, sprinkler, mist, high-velocity water)
- Fire alarm systems
- Fire extinguishers
- Fire Detectors
- IR and UV detectors
- Provide input/support Maintenance of the standard configurations and GBOM.
- Interact with interfacing organizations such as manufacturer/supplier, sourcing, Drafting team, Configuration, Electrical Team, etc.
- Work with Customer Project Engineer to ensure proper installation of fire protection systems.
- Ability to work closely with other CTH (Consulting and Principal Engineers) & Technical Leaders to maintain team synergies, lessons learned and best practices.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest fire protection technologies and codes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 6-10 years of experience in fire protection engineering, preferably in the power generation industry. Experience in designing and specifying fire protection systems for industrial facilities.
- Strong knowledge of national and international fire safety codes and standards (NFPA, ISO, etc.).
- Proficient in UG NX (preferred), AutoCAD or other CAD packages.
- Basic knowledge on Power plant components and its functioning.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with project management principles.
