3GPP RAN Researcher - 5G (2-6 yrs)

Overview :

We are seeking an 3GPP RAN researcher to join our team. In this role, you will contribute to the of 5G Advanced and the development of 6G technologies. You will be responsible for generating innovative ideas, driving standardization proposals, and coordinating research activities related to radio access networks, with a focus on RAN1, RAN2, and RAN3 working groups.

Key Responsibilities :

- Understanding of detailed 3GPP specifications (Release 15 and above).

- Investigate technology concepts for 5G/6G (Release 19 and beyond).

- Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate new ideas in the 5G/6G domain.

- Draft technology patents and promote Jio Platforms' intellectual property in 3GPP and related standards.

- Prepare 3GPP meeting contribution documents, including discussion papers and Change Requests (CRs).

- Attend and represent Jio Platforms' interests in 3GPP RAN WG1/WG2/WG3 standardization meetings.

- Analyze and report on contributions submitted by other companies in 3GPP RAN working groups.

- Derive requirements for various use cases, such as automated driving.

- Develop new system architectures and key technical building blocks.

- Collaborate with external partners, including universities, to explore emerging research concepts.

- Communicate standardization activities and trends to other R&D teams.

- Coordinate relevant research and development activities within the organization.

Qualifications and Experience :

- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a 3GPP RAN delegate.

- Exposure to 6G research is advantageous.

- Experience in innovation and intellectual property rights (IPR) is desirable.

- Proven experience in system engineering activities, including authoring detailed technology study documents.

- Knowledge of 3GPP mobile telecommunications technologies and system architectures for LTE, LTE-A, and 5G NR.

- Experience in patent filing for 3GPP and related wireless technologies.

- Experience in preparing 3GPP contributions and attending RAN working group meetings.

- Proficiency in network simulation tools, including MATLAB and C/C++ for simulation purposes.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience in other standards organizations (e.g., IEEE, O-RAN) with knowledge in Layer-1/Layer-2/Layer-3 technologies will be considered as an additional skill.

- PhD/MS in a relevant field is required.
