What does the Solutions Engineering Team do at Qentelli?

The SE team works closely with the Qentelli Leadership, Prospective Customers, Innovation, Sales, Marketing, Service Delivery, Product and Analyst firms to ensure that Prospects and customers:

1. Understand our companys product and service offerings
2. How we can identify and solve their problems
3. Sign up to engage Qentelli

Role and Responsibilities

The number one responsibility is the customer. The Solutions Engineer is the most customer-facing technical role in the Sales process. SE will interact closely with CEOs, CTOs, VPs of Engineering, product managers, solution architects, and developers.

The SE will work with all teams and will need to have a breadth and depth skill set, often referred to as T-shaped. Solution engineers will have diverse knowledge with one topic they are experts on, and the ability to dive deep into any other subject and figure it out.

What does a typical day for a Solutions Engineer look like?

As the Solutions Engineering team supports the entire organization, the activities vary widely. A typical set of activities would be:

1. Joining a lead or prospect call with the Sales team to talk about our product and service offerings in depth and convincing them on our technical excellence
2. Research and create Technical presentations for specific Prospect needs on our capability, approach and deliverables. These research areas will most likely be new to the company!
3. Work with Delivery and Marketing teams to create case studies on existing projects that deeply resonate with other prospects
4. Lead or Participate in Discovery calls to understand in depth on Client problems/challenges needs and develop Proposals with estimates of schedule and cost
5. Present and defend proactive proposals to Prospects as well as respond to RFIs, RFPs and RFQs
6. Smooth Transition of the prospect to Delivery teams through SOW, Project Kickoff and other activities

Business and technical knowledge is an important asset. Every prospect is different Industry, Technology stack, implementation, frameworks etc. The SE will need to be able to understand whatever problems the customer has, sometimes without having the exact idea of how it works but knowing that we can solve it. An entrepreneurial and problem-solving mindset is best for this position.

What skillsets are you looking in a person to join your team?

Depending on the level you are applying, you should have a majority of these skills with demonstrable experience:

1. Technical experience in any Software area (typically includes Programming in a modern language, Cloud Development, some Domain knowledge)
2. Experience working in a Product or Application Delivery team using agile methods
3. Direct exposure to Customers/Prospects in standups, product presentations, PoCs and Demos
4. Active participation in proposing technical solutions, the business need and impact, estimate time required and presenting them to a business/technical audience

The following skills would be a huge advantage in becoming successful quickly in this team

• Ability to explain crisply what you have produced (Code, docs, presentations etc.)
• You can present your ideas visually (sketching, drawing, doodling are great!) and have some basic understanding of Powerpoint
• Self-learning and the ability to research new technical areas.
