Cost Auditor (CMA)

We are seeking a skilled Cost Auditor specializing in Quantity Verification to ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and validation of project quantities. The role involves scrutinizing quantity data, verifying material usage, and ensuring alignment with cost and project budgets. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in maintaining financial efficiency and ensuring resource accountability within projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Quantity Validation and Accuracy:

• Ensure accurate verification of material quantities as per project BOQs, drawings, and site usage.

2. Compliance with Standards:

• Maintain adherence to cost auditing standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.

3. Variance Analysis and Reporting:

• Identify discrepancies in reported and actual quantities and their impact on project budgets.

4. Collaboration and Data Collection:

• Work closely with project managers, site engineers, and procurement teams to gather accurate quantity-related data.

5. Process Improvement:

• Recommend improvements to quantity tracking, reporting, and cost control processes.

6. Quantity Verification:

• Cross-check and verify quantities claimed in project reports against design drawings, BOQs (Bill of Quantities), and purchase orders.
• Validate material usage, work progress, and actual quantities utilized on-site.
• Identify and address discrepancies in quantity reporting and usage.

7. Cost and Compliance Audits:

• Perform audits on project costs associated with material procurement, labor, and subcontracting.
• Ensure all quantities align with approved project budgets and contractual terms.
• Verify compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.

8. Measurement and Reporting:

• Review and approve quantity measurement records submitted by site engineers or contractors.
• Prepare detailed reports on quantity variances, highlighting root causes and recommendations for improvement.

9. Budget and Cost Control:

• Assess the impact of quantity deviations on project budgets and timelines.
• Support cost control efforts by identifying potential cost-saving opportunities.

Skill / Competencies Required:

• Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
• Professional certifications such as RICS, ICWA, or PMP (Preferred).

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Accounting, or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in cost auditing, quantity surveying, or project management.
• Experience in construction, infrastructure, or manufacturing projects is an advantage.
