PLC & SCADA Programmer

We are seeking a skilled PLC & SCADA Programmer to work on a project in the loading silos of a cement factory located in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. The project involves replacing existing RFID readers with QR code readers as an input data mechanism and upgrading the automation systems accordingly. The role demands hands-on experience with Siemens PLCs (S7-200 and S7-300), Profibus communication, and WinCC Professional SCADA systems.

This is a critical role requiring expertise in industrial automation, programming, and system integration, ensuring seamless operations during and after the upgrade.

Key Responsibilities

1. System Analysis & Design:
• Assess the existing automation setup, including S7-200 and S7-300 PLCs, RFID reader configurations, and WinCC Professional SCADA system.
• Develop a comprehensive plan to integrate QR code readers into the existing system.
• Identify required hardware and software changes for seamless integration.
2. PLC Programming:
• Modify and upgrade the S7-200 PLC programs using Microwin application to accommodate QR code readers.
• Reprogram and test the S7-300 PLC logic to ensure compatibility and data flow consistency.
• Ensure proper communication between S7-200 PLCs and the S7-300 PLC over the Profibus network.
3. SCADA Development:
• Update the Siemens WinCC Professional SCADA system to support the new QR code reader functionality.
• Redesign SCADA interfaces and visualizations for better operational insights.
• Conduct SCADA server configuration and system optimization.
4. Testing & Commissioning:
• Perform rigorous system testing to validate the integration of QR code readers with the PLCs and SCADA.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to PLC or SCADA programming and communication.
• Document test results and provide feedback for system improvements.
5. Documentation & Training:
• Develop detailed project documentation, including code changes, system configurations, and operating procedures.
• Train operational and maintenance staff on the upgraded system functionalities.
6. Compliance & Safety:
• Ensure all upgrades and modifications adhere to industry standards, safety protocols, and compliance requirements.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to minimize downtime during the upgrade process.

Qualifications

• Education:
• Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in PLC and SCADA programming, preferably in the cement or manufacturing industry.
• Hands-on experience with Siemens S7-200 and S7-300 PLCs and Microwin application.
• Proficiency in Siemens WinCC Professional SCADA systems and Profibus communication.
• Skills:
• Strong knowledge of PLC programming, logic development, and industrial automation.
• Proficiency in hardware configuration and troubleshooting of Siemens PLCs.
• Familiarity with QR code reader integration and related technologies.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and documentation abilities.
