Azure Network Engineer

About Us:
We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Network Engineer to join our IT engineering team. This role is pivotal in designing, implementing, maintaining, securing, and optimizing our hybrid network infrastructure, including Azure networks, to ensure seamless and secure communication throughout the organization. While you will be part of the IT engineering team, we are looking for a self-motivated individual who can take ownership of tasks, work independently, and efficiently complete assignments within established timelines with minimal supervision. We value the ability to quickly acquire and apply new technical skills. Adaptability to a dynamic and rapidly changing environment, along with the ability to prioritize tasks according to business needs, ongoing projects, and incidents, is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Network Design and Implementation:
  Plan, design, and implement network infrastructure to meet organizational requirements, SLAs, and change management guidelines. Deploy and configure network components such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, SaaS products, and Azure network services (e.g., Virtual Networks, VPNs, ExpressRoute, and Network Security Groups).
• Azure Network Engineering:
  Design and manage Azure networking solutions, including Virtual Networks (VNets), Subnets, Network Security Groups (NSGs), Load Balancers, VPN Gateways, and ExpressRoute. Collaborate with cloud infrastructure teams to integrate on-premise and Azure networks securely and efficiently.
• Network Security:
  Implement and enforce network security measures to protect data and systems, including managing firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and access control policies. Ensure secure communication and compliance across both on-premise and cloud network infrastructure.
• Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
  Diagnose and resolve network issues promptly. Perform routine maintenance, system/security upgrades, and troubleshooting at Level 2/3 to ensure optimal performance. Be available for 24x7 incident response to support critical network functions.
• Network Optimization:
  Analyze and optimize network performance, capacity, and reliability across hybrid environments, including on-premise and cloud networks (AWS, Azure). Implement Quality of Service (QoS) policies to prioritize network traffic and ensure mission-critical applications have the bandwidth they need.
• Documentation:
  Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including network topologies, configurations, and security policies. Ensure detailed documentation of both on-premise and Azure networking configurations and changes.
• Collaboration:
  Work closely with cross-functional teams (cloud, infrastructure, security) and vendors to support IT projects. Provide technical expertise and assistance to other team members and end-users, demonstrating strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Emerging Technologies:
  Stay current with networking trends, cloud technologies (Azure), and security best practices. Propose and implement improvements to both on-premise and cloud network environments to drive innovation and optimization.

• Key Technical Skills for Candidate Shortlisting:
  Ability to overlap with US timezone/US working hours for collaboration/training/oversight.
  Experience: Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in a network engineer or similar role.
  Network Design and Implementation: Proven ability to design and implement complex multi-geographic network infrastructures that follow the principles of security, segmentation, redundancy, resiliency, and scalability.
• Azure Networking: Experience with VWAN (Virtual WAN), BGP (Dynamic Routing protocol), network peering, firewalls, VNets (Virtual network), NSGs (network security group, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute, Load Balancer, Application Gateway, NAT gateway, Traffic Manager, Azure Network Watcher, Traffic Analytics, Private Link, DNS, Azure Diagnostics, Log Analytics, etc
• AWS (Transit Gateway), CGW (Customer Gateway VPN), VPC (Virtual private cloud), route tables, NAT gateways, network peering, privatelink, SG (Security groups)
  Network Security: Expertise in network security measures, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAF, ACL/SG/NSGs, web proxy, VPN, secure protocols.
• Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Critical/analytical skills and ability to efficiently use tools like powershell, cli, Wireshark, SolarWinds, Dynatrace, Splunk, etc.
  Vendor Experience: Hands-on experience with products from major vendors such as
  Cisco, HPE/Aruba, AWS, Azure, O365, Zscaler, 8X8, Proofpoint, Splunk, Imperva, Okta, CyberArk, SolarWinds, Dynatrace, etc
• Network Operations: Updates, defines, documents, troubleshoots, and enforces system and configuration standards.  Familiar with change control and Atlassian systems (Jira, Confluence)
• Soft skills - Communication (Able to speak clearly, provide concise responses, excellent written comms, camera on), Problem solving capabilities, adaptability to fast pace environment with changing priorities, Active team engagement (Looking to learn, looking for more work, ability to be a self-starter, does not sit quietly in meetings), Ability to learn new technologies without formal training
• Preferred certifications - Cisco CCNP or CCIE Enterprise, Azure Network Engineer Associate, AWS Advanced Networking

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Experience: At least 7 years of proven hands-on experience in network engineering or a similar role
• Certifications:
• Cisco (CCNA/CCNP) or CCIE enterprise, Azure Network Engineer associate, AWS advanced networking
• Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-700, AZ-104) are a plus
• Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of network protocols, security measures, scripting languages, and automation
• Vendor Experience: Hands-on experience with networking technologies from industry leaders like Cisco, HPE/Aruba, AWS, Microsoft/Azure, Zscaler, Splunk, Okta, and SolarWinds
