Role Overview:
- The Head of Plant HR will lead and manage the Human Resources function for a manufacturing plant spread across 20 acres with a workforce of 1200-1500 employees. The role includes overseeing all HR operations, ensuring error-free payroll management, Employee Relations (ER), Industrial Relations (IR), and compliance. Additionally, the role will play a key part in the expansion of a new unit adjacent to the existing plant. This position requires a strong leader with extensive experience in plant HR management, a deep understanding of labor laws, and a strategic mindset to support the growth and operational efficiency of the plant.
Key Responsibilities:
HR Strategy and Operations:
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the overall business objectives of the plant.
- Oversee end-to-end HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and employee engagement.
- Ensure effective management of HR processes, policies, and systems to support the plant's operational needs.
Error-Free Payroll Management:
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll preparation and processing for all plant employees.
- Oversee payroll-related compliance, ensuring adherence to statutory requirements and company policies.
- Utilize HR digital platforms like Zoho HR, ZingHR, or similar systems to streamline payroll processes and enhance accuracy.
Employee Relations (ER) & Industrial Relations (IR):
- Manage ER/IR issues, ensuring harmonious employee relations and a positive work environment.
- Serve as a point of contact for labor unions, negotiating and resolving labor disputes, grievances, and other related matters.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies, minimizing legal risks and maintaining industrial peace.
Compliance and Legal:
- Ensure full compliance with local, state, and national labor laws and regulations.
- Implement and monitor HR policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify and address potential compliance issues.
Data Analytics and MIS:
- Lead the HR analytics function, utilizing data-driven insights to inform HR strategies and decision-making.
- Develop and maintain robust HR metrics and reporting systems to track HR performance and support continuous improvement.
- Provide regular HR reports and dashboards to senior management, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities.
Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead and mentor the plant HR team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with plant leadership and other stakeholders to drive HR initiatives.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the plant.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience: 15+ years of HR experience, with significant exposure to the manufacturing plant environment.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of labor laws, compliance, and industrial relations.
- Proven experience in handling complex ER/IR issues.
- Expertise in HR data analytics and MIS.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Experience with HR digital platforms like Zoho HR, ZingHR, or similar systems.
- Expertise in error-free payroll processing and timely payroll preparation.
