This position will hold responsibility for the overall accounting at state/project level. Detailed responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following broad areas :
Role & Responsibility
Audit Planning and Execution
Develop and implement an annual internal audit plan.
Conduct risk assessments to identify areas of high risk within the organization.
Execute internal audit engagements
Risk Management and Control
Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls
Identify areas of potential operational improvement
Provide recommendations to enhance the organization s risk management processes
Compliance
Ensure compliance with internal policies, donor requirements, and regulatory standards.
Monitor and report on the implementation of audit recommendations
Stay updated on changes in regulations and best practices in internal auditing and non-profit governance.
Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with the Finance and Program teams to understand processes and identify risks.
Communicate audit findings and recommendations to senior management.
Continuous Improvement
Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the organization.
Identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of audit processes.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
Educational / Professional Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance/CA/Semi-qualified CA
At least 3 years of experience in internal auditing, preferably within the non-profit sector.
Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
Highly proficient with accounting software.
Proficient with MS Office, including word, excel and PowerPoint.
Proficiency in spoken and written English or Hindi and regional language.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
