SRE - Cloud Engineer

Technical Skills and Expertise

Programming, Software Network Principles:

• Strong understanding of programming, software, and network principles.

• Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and Azure DevOps.

• Proficiency in scripting and coding:

  • Scripting: Bash, PowerShell, Azure CLI

  • Coding: Python, C#, Java

  • Query Languages: SQL, Kusto Query Language (KQL)

• Hands-on experience with software versioning control systems (e.g., GitHub) and CI/CD systems.

• Programming expertise in the following languages:

  • PowerShell, Terraform, Python

  • Windows command prompt

  • Object-oriented programming languages

• Demonstrated Linux administration and scripting experience (preferably Red Hat Systems).

• Deep understanding of hardware and software principles:

  • Storage technologies (SSD, HDD, NVMe)

  • CPU architectures

  • Memory and operating system principles (especially network stack fundamentals)

• Knowledge of network protocols and network design.

Cloud Infrastructure Platform Engineering:

• Expertise in cloud infrastructure and platform engineering (Azure preferred).

• Ability to build, operate, maintain, and support cloud infrastructure and data services at scale.

• Experience in engineering and deploying a range of services in Azure.

• Proven ability to collaborate across multiple support groups contributing to a service.

• Experience working with highly available/high-load web infrastructures (e.g., web proxies, reverse proxies).

• Understanding of:

  • Data Quality, Data Management, Data Controls, and Data Governance

  • Security and Compliance (e.g., IAM and cloud compliance/auditing/monitoring tools)

• Strong troubleshooting and service support experience.

• Continuous improvement mindset with a track record of implementing change effectively.

• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex problems across cloud, services, and application stacks.

• Strong documentation, change management, and agile development practices.

Technology Stack:

• Comprehensive technical knowledge and breadth of Azure technology services:

  • Identity, Networking, Compute, Storage, Web, Containers, Databases

• Proficiency in cloud and big data technologies, including but not limited to:

  • Azure Cloud, Azure IAM, Azure Active Directory (Azure AD)

  • Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Functions

  • Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Logic App, Azure Monitor

  • Azure Log Analytics, Azure Compute, Azure Storage, Azure Data Lake Store

  • Synapse Analytics and PowerBI

• Experience with:

  • Server, operating system, and infrastructure technologies (e.g., Nginx/Apache, CosmosDB, Linux, Bash, PowerShell)

  • Monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch)

• Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation tools:

  • Terraform, Chef, Ansible, CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager (ARM)

• Experience with streaming platforms and stream processing services:

  • Azure Event Hubs, Kafka

  • Spark Streaming

• Familiarity with Security Information Event Management (SIEM) and Security Orchestration, Automation Response (SOAR) technologies (cloud-based solutions preferred).

Education and Experience:

• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a passion for learning.

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related fields is advantageous.

• Bachelor s degree in any STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field with relevant data, technology, or programming experience is also considered.

• Candidates without a Bachelors degree will be considered if they have demonstrable experience in the required areas and/or possess relevant industry certifications in Cloud, Data, or Cybersecurity.

• CSA welcomes candidates from diverse skills and educational backgrounds, including those with transferable skills from software development or other technology domains.

• Preferred proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, or similar.

• Experience in highly regulated industries (e.g., Financial Services) is advantageous.

• Understanding of cybersecurity principles, global financial services business models, regional compliance regulations, and applicable laws is a plus.

• Knowledge of common industry cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and methodologies is advantageous, including:

  • OWASP, ISO2700x series, PCI DSS, GLBA

  • Global data security and privacy acts

  • FFIEC guidelines, CIS, and NIST standards
